as long as you stay away from the 'jetsound 10000watt / ripspeed wmamp3ghd.comdvdrac / spl 9channel/biogradable/xover' cheapy stuff and go with known brands, there isnt a need to spend ????'s..
Just, just for a guide... good bundle, really..

Ebay is your friend. I'm looking at <?350 for two amps, sub, component system, and additional midrange speakers. Thats good quality stuff as well, not budget junk. Ok so that doesn't include a HU, but you ought to be able to pick up a decent Alpine or Pioneer jobbie for ~?100.

[edit] Only on of the amps I bought is second hand btw, the rest is new stuff.

Cheers Jack, Peester i've been looking at stuff like that from halfrauds, but none of it takes my fancy!

I'm fussy as hell when it comes to speakers/HU's etc lol

A friend of mine owns 2 of these amps, and they seem pretty good: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1180.html

I've got one of these, and although its not the best sub I've ever heard, I really can't fault it for the money http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2924.html

the loudest.com stuff if overpriced, crap, they lie abut the power of amps and the power there stuff takes, as well as crossovers on amps that dont work, play treble through subs etc, no thermal protection,, crap efficiency (about 4 times less efficient (quieter) than any amps rated to the supposid power tthey profuce and fire hazzards... ill show u pics some time of what happened to one of the amps i did a test on,,,,, not pretty!

halfords stuff is all crap and very overpriced... other than the high end fusion kit shich they dont sell (yes fusion do actually make some VERY good kit)

with "400 for a sub and amp, look for a phoenix gold 15.0.1 amp and a 15" jlw3v2 sub

then a pioneer 5600mp / 5630mp head unit and a set of cdt compnents up front!

dont be afraid to buy second hand!

also bear in mind power isnt everything, its how you build the sub box and about the efficiecny and power supply

ps... yes i am an ice boffin. feel free to contact me on msn: info@skatermag.co.uk if you want some proper indepth advice mate

i'd look for something like this for a sub, 10" in a box with built in amp,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FOCAL-POLYGLASS-BOMBA-27-V1-SUBWOOFER-BNIB_W0QQitemZ320213186119QQihZ011QQcategoryZ18799 QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Focal are a high quality speaker, even these being at the lower end of there range, you'll find them better than other makes top end speaker,

Don't buy 6x9's a good set of components will do just fine again i'd recommend focal maybe access or polyglass range, these would run fine using a 2-channel amp

But it really depends on what you want from a system, ie, just to play music as loud as possible, you may as well buy cheap crap and just pop sub after sub!! then buy vibe or fusion from halfords,
