Feel a bit stupid asking this but I got a gear knob finally off a mig user as mine is well messed up.
The replacement knob has a smaller inner diameter plus the center core is plastic. My Current knob hasent got it and the end of the gear stick is much wider
Arent all gear knobs the same?

I have a vectra one on, and thats a little smaller dia. than the nova's standard one. you could carefully drill the new knob out to fit, but it does need to be a little smaller to have an interference fit

Must be a MK1 gear stick thing. Gonna have to try my best to get it on.
Looks like not all gear knobs on novas are the same :(
the gsi's came with a slightly different knob to the rest of the range, but they all had the same size hole at the bottom irrc. the gsi's have a black tube like sleeve to make the stick look sporty and stronger, they justslide off. ive got a mk3 astra one on mine, i had to drill it abit to fit.

Hmm.. my one is certainly different. the gear knob doesnt have the plastic sleeve, it just pulls off. Unless the plastic sleeve is stuck on the stick and has come away from the knob but that would tear up the knob I would have thought.
Never straight forward lol
Gonna see if I can get it on. Will take snaps if its not working

Its Sorted!
As I said last post the screw plastic sleeve actually came away from the gear knob. I didnt realise this coz everytim ethe knob came off it would be without the sleeve.
Managed to get the sleeve off and put the new one one.
Thanks for the tips
