doin xe conversion on 1.2spi shell, will the tank thats fitted be ok to use?
the xe is running carbs not injection,
also theres a box in the passenger front wing thats connected to the tank as well, think its a swil pot, do i need it tho?
cheers

Yeah the tanks fine.
You will need run low psi fuel pressure for the carbs.
Thats the carbon canistor, it collect fuel vapour.

so if i take the pump out and replace with the r1 pump it will be ok?
can i remove the canistor?
No, because a r1 pump doesn't fit in the tank....?
Replace the pump with just some fuel hose.
Then use the R1 pump
Yeah you can remove the canistor, but that leaves you with an open hose from the fuel tank(breather pipe), its ok tho.

IIRC the SPi tank had an inbuilt pump? so you may need an MPi tank with an external pump which you could adjust the pressure?

a gsi tank will be ok to fit then as i got 1 laying around somewere?
Just leave the spi tank on

Just leave the spi tank on
but what about the pump inside the tank?
Replace the pump itself with some fuel hose.
So theres just hose where the pump used to sit(the pump sits connected to the housing that holds it in the tank)
Or even easier, just use the spi pump, on a switch.
With a pressure regulator to bring the pressure to about 3 psi

In theory it sounds like it might work but im sure that the spi pump is low pressure but still wont actually flow enough for a 2lt regardless.
Can do it that way yeah.
Best way is using a relay tho, just use the switch to switch the relay.

The pressure from a spi pump is 10psi, and im pretty sure it supplys a good volume too.
I used it for my Twin 40d engine, but it was only a 1400.

Ah but pressure and flow arent the same thing :thumb:, say if you took petrol away from the system at a greater rate than the the pump could supply then it wont work.
Not actually sure what the spi pumps flow, have know people to run them on standard xes though lol, they did have problems but no doubt will more be pressure related.

the 2lt is on carbs tho, not sure weather to go 45's or bike carbs tho yet,

Aye, i said 10psi pressure, and a good volume too ;)
Iiirc, the spi pumps flow a LOT of fuel, more than Facet pumps iirc.

Noticed after Id already posted lol

That will use mucho fuel, more than a standard xe

so shall i use the gsi tank and gsi pump or a facet red top pump?

No keep the tank as you wont be able to use the gsi pump anyway as its high pressure. Im not 100% confident that the spi will flow enough but either use that or a facet one or something that doesnt the same job.

ok thanks
Just use a facet that can support the fuel requirements, for the power you'll have.
I dont want to say use a spi pump, and it then runs lean and kills pistons lol
It was fine on my 1.4 tho.
