i went to look at a m8's of a m8's corsa he had for sale (might buy it), its a 2ltr engine one and he said its a Lee Mitchum edition or something??
couldn't see any badges to confirm this tho.
never heard of it before, he reckond that in the late 90's a guy who worked in vauxhall found some old stock of 2ltr engines that needed shifting so he fitted some to corsas and a few into novas. And they then got sold to special/regular customers?
is this a rare car i've found and should i buy it to restore to how it left the factory, could do with a respray really.

weird he seemed quite sure about this, but was no way to prove it.
was a corsa b btw, not a C, forgot to say that.
is there anyone where else i could ask or found out about it? goggle came back with nothing
Seriously mate, I'v been on the scene since 1994. I would have heard about this if it was even a GOOD rumour, like the Lotus nova and the field of new gsi's in germany, and the stockpile of shells.....
Just an urban legend mate.
Lee Mitchell is a guy who does engine conversions for Corsa's
Nothing more to it than that, or is there........
:wtf:

the lotus nova was real, i remember my brother had the feature in a car mag, might still have it, i'll dig it out

he might of said mitchell? mitchum? sounds pretty the same...
so are they rare and worth restoring?
FPMSL
Lee Mitchell is who you are talking about, he lives in Kent and is widely known by the Corsa boys for the man to do their conversions, if you go to house there are normally 2 or 3 conversions on the go. He is also a good friend of mine, what does the car look like I probably know of it.
thunderpants

its white, grey bumpers and has a vauxhall rollcage
the lotus nova was real, i remember my brother had the feature in a car mag, might still have it, i'll dig it out
get a grip, it was a nove with lotus badges on it. nothing mroe nothing less..... NOT made by lotus!

The only connection that Nova had to Lotus was the Lotus badges that the owner had stuck on it - Lotus did NOTHING to it what so ever!
iirc he put Lotus wheels on aswell. Or im i just dreaming this lol

^^
That is a Lee Mitchell edition that was made for track action, ended up going to Scotland to be ran by the Fee Kindness team many years ago.
I believe that one was in the low 20's of the production run.
lotus dont make wheels ;) they make badges though :D
thunderpants
05-12-07, 11:13 AM
it looked like the one posted above, but had different wheels and worse condition, bumpers were more light grey and was M-reg'd
look for a plaque on it on, only the real one's came with it

"J18" is probably the rarest of ALL the LM editions, most people thought that the abovr car was a myth (Many people still do!) but as you can see it HAS seen the light of day at least once in the last three years and it's an amazing car.
Nobody truely knows what's happened to it now or it's whereabouts, some say that it's the car you see in the pics of a Corsa bay with the Louts Carlton lump in, other say that it's owner and Lee are at loggerheads as to what to do with it next - Apparently Lee wants to preserve it (in his musuem (garage)) as it's such low mileage and has had very little use, where as the owner is being very cloak-and-dagger about it and his plans for it.
Maybe one day it'll re-emerge as a Lotus Carlton engined monster, maybe it'll stay in hiding, who truely knows.......

Yeah Ste those ones, A few things that point to it being J18, obviously the colour, the coded mirrors, the bucket seats and harnesses, the fact that J18 hasn't been seen for ages, Depo headlights, half a dashboard - too many co-incidences imo
Has to be J18 doesn't it?
thunderpants
05-12-07, 12:09 PM
if it is this j18, (was m reg tho, but they never made j-reg corsa so could be a private plate that was taken off), is it worth saving? looked alot worse for wear than the one in the pic
will look for the plaque, although am sure it wasn't there, would it be mounted anywhere else?

Have you seen the underside of the C36GET corsa? Its got more chassis strengthening plates/bars than the Dalbach Golf lol
It was at SantaPod earlier this year but aborted a run. It threw a tyre off a wheel :o
Those 15" wheels and tyres dont take the much hp easily lol

right, i've rang my m8, who spoke to the guy selling it, and he reckons the chap he bought it from told him about it being a Lee Mitchum Edition, but they never mention it on the logbook as vauxhall didn't release it as an offical model. He knows his stuff and has had corsas before so not sure what the full story is now.
could there be a Lee mitchum AND a Lee mitchell and its just coincedence?
the plot thickens......
The only thing that has thickened is the pile of **** in my pants.
Or your mate is full of ****? Or someone has filled him full of ****?
Either way, one things is certain - someone is full of ****!

Morse would have retired to the pub for a pint by now.
Is Mitchum even a surname?
I think you should buy it and then restore it as it's obviously a very rare car that nobod has ever heard of. i'm sure it's worth a fortune.
Now if you could just piss off to Corsasport as this is a Nova forum..........

Im not putting you off at all mate. If it was built by LM then its gonna be a good buy.
Might want to check with a Vaux retailer if they are aware of the Lee Mithcum edition.
Apparently there are lots of ultra rare Nova/Corsa editions out there. I would buy the car if I were you:thumb:
I am currently looking out for the F1 edition. Its supposed to be even faster again than the extreamly quick FVL version. Doubt I will ever get one though :(
However if you get offered a RB version stay well clear. They are usually either orange or brown with textured effect paint.

i wish my problem was as simple as that lol :(
Just been talking to a race engine builder I know and apparently Lee Mitchum usually works on more exotic/racing cars and the one you have been offered must be one of his early projects.
Here are a few of his more recent cars (They are badged LM Edition)

Look by the back wheel on the sill for the LM badge

I Thought LM was for Lee Mitchum edition?
Yes it is:thumb:
EDIT: Also just been informed of another rare type to stay clear of. The BT editions have problems with the engines. Apparently the con rods that were specially made for the uprated engines had a slight fault in them and they tend to blow up if driven hard.

doesnt look very special to me!
1 - Your mate/mates mate is full of ****.
2 - There is no such thing as a Vauxhall Corsa Lee Mitchum edition
3 - That's just a corsa that someone has stripped out and put a cage/buckets in and fitted a 2.0 . It even has the "spin" badge on the side.
4 - If you want to buy it, but it for the fact that it might be a clean and well coverted base model. If its not clean, don't buy it.

No such thing as an LM Edition Corsa.
That is just a caged Corsa with an XE.
If its clean I would buy, make a great toy. If not walk away.
I repeat, there is no such thing as an LM Edition Corsa.
The MC/CP special editions were much better... see if you can track down one of them, much better IMO :)
There used to be a garage in nuneaton that always had limited edition mk2 cavalier 'stella's for sale. they were simply ex rental cav's with a 1980's 'Hella style' cheap bodykit & a stella badge made by cutting the hella one about.....he did sell quite a few. they must be worth ?5 more than a standard one these days.....

Aye it will. CD being the intials of the man whos craftmanship took place on the car. Its well known with the VBOA, plus being the first XE/R1 nova great care had to be taken with it, on first run the test driver experienced dislocated wrists. Hence why there is only one, as it was deemed to dangerous to make more. There would have been massive law suits on there hands.

Ive never had any issues with there internet service though lol maybe they should stick what there good at......that would be call centres in Azbekistan lol
I once had a skoda 120 limited edition. my mate made a badge up that read 'FELLATIO' & stuck it on one night. It was on a month before I found it. I have a photo somewhere

I think you should fit a wide bodykit on it so there is room for all the letters!

LM/stig could be on to something there start a new thread about it lol
My dad once owned a Ford RS Codswollap. You just don't see them anymore :(
Like deffo phone da DVLA innit.
If you ring Swansea they have a special unit for cars like this. They can put you in touch with a specialist driver licensed to transport such vehicles. Later that afternoon, he will put at least one if not two other special edition cars on top of it, hold them down with the HIAB, drive to some other specialists driving Hymacs fitted with grabs, and it'll be leaving Briton Ferry on a container ship for China by the evening, with all the other scrap lol
Exporting made easy.

I think i know the guy, he was the one who lived in the village near me that my Nan's neighbor knows him.
He use to go to school with three members of Bros, or was there four i cant remember?
All i know is the guy died once while making a souffl? but two years later he came back to life and went to live in the Himalayas with his nine she-he wives/husbands where they lived off his life insurance and ate hamsters everyday for breakfast lunch and dinner.
He's one hell of man for ****'ing nine women with cocks!
Is that enough bull sh1t for you you tosser?
