ok... here goes nothing!

both Kenwood:
KDC-4021 Headunit attatched to
KCA-iP500 ipod adapter.

works fine and all, but when i first hooked it up, it scrolled the track and artist names across the screen of the headunit, now it only shows a jumble of numbers which apparently refer to playlist, track, artist etc etc...

it would be cool to have it showing track and artist names again, i don't know when or why it gave up doing it?

just wondered if anyone has possibly the same setup, or maybe just has a bit of useful info?

thanks

I used to have that headunit, they were prone to the lcds playing up, mine used to always cut the power out now and again.

Anyway, im sure there should be a function in the headunits menu where you can choose what type of display you want, i.e time, track name, or track number etc..

If its not that then maybe it doesnt recognize the data to display the names, where I burn quite a lot of cd's it doesnt show up the names for them just track 1 etc..

Hope that helps.

i thought there was that option too, but i cannot for the life of me find it!

i think the lcd is fine, and as it won't show any of the track names (there are no special charecters in them) i'm assuming theres a missing menu item. but how can it just dissapear?

hmm, i've fiddled about for hours with and without the manual and got nowhere. annoying.

thanks anyway, lets hope it magics itself back, in the way it went!

lol I'm sure I used to have that head unit.

For future reference, if you need it the manual is available on the kenwood site, here (pdf) (http://manuals.kenwood.novenaweb.info/languages/EN/support/manuals/KDC-4021%7E3021%7E306%7E2092%20%28EN%29.pdf)

Are the MP3s downloaded or ripped by you from the original CDs? Maybe check all the tag information is properly labelled (right click on MP3 file icon > properties > summary tag > advanced) so you can be sure its not that whihc is causing the display to read nonsense!

ah it's sorted now mate, thanks any way though. was as simple as pressing a button a few times. i've got a good 30gb of tracks on the ipod, so doing that might take a while! lol

Oh ok... nice and simple then lol ive had similar blonde moments with that head unit, might have made sense if i'd bothered to read the instruction booklet first.
