these have been puzzling me for weeks how can you have equal lenght drive shafts when one has to be smaller
can some one shine a light
thanks
The drivers side has a small shaft from the diff, going to a bracket, then a shaft the same length as the passenger one goes from the bracket to the hub.
this is an equal lengh setup..

the top shaft is basically fixed, so in a way, is sort of like extending the gearbox, then the other shafts are basically same lengh, thus giving you equal lenght shafts
find a peugeot 205 & have a butchers. they have them as standard
They came on 8v and 16v Calibras as well as some Cavs as far as i know, you have to be running an F18 / F20 / F28 gearbox and big hubs tho as they use big shafts and CV's.
Can be picked up from scrappys / breakers for about ?40, all you need is the bracket and intermediate shaft and both CV's then you've gotta get a 'custom' shaft, either get a std big shaft shortened (416mm end to end) for buy a one piece shaft from Chris Astley for about ?75.
A shortened shaft (cut & welded) would be fine on an XE imo, but they don't seem to last very long with an LET.
Definatly worth doing tho, cuts down on tourqe steerer a hell of a lot.

I guess smallblocks dont need it?
Shame. I'd have done that on the 1600T.
Not sure if s/b have the threads in the block for the bracket.
