Alrite guys, couple of questions:

First, is there any problems with putting sr instrument clocks into a gte. Will they fit ok and will the wiring fit into the housing ok.

Second, basically i think the clocks in the gte are busted i.e the filament on the back is all peeling off and the temp gauge goes crazy.

last but not least, i disconnected the speedo cable when i was replacing bulbs on the clocks and when driving to work today the speedo stopped working and there was a clicking noise. Ive took the clocks out and the speedo was still attached but the part inside it was hanging out. Is there anyway this can be put back in or do i have to buy a new one.

cheers for any help!

sr clocks will fit easily. there won't be a ecu warning light & the choke light will be redundant

without seeing the car, I won't comment about the temp gauge.

take the speedo cable out of the gearbox end & reconnect the inner drive

Excellent mate, thats what i need to know about the clocks. The temp gauge has only went crazy since i removed the clocks so at least i know its just the gauge.

thanks for your help mate. im slowly but surely getting back into the highs and lows of nova ownership and have to say this is one of the most friendly and knowledgeably sites on the net.

Take the clocks back out again, remove the outer film on the back of the circuits and check that none of the copper traces are shorting against one another, then cover with a decent packing/sellotape that you can see through, to make sure the traces still arent shorting.

Mark 1 SR clocks will fit into a GTE with no problem, they're the same thing.

Mark 1 items look like this:

Mark 2 items have lugs for screws at the top and sides.
