Anyone else seen this on Discovery Turbo?
Got sky the other week and I'm seriously hooked.
For those that dont know its like a grown up pimp my ride for older american cars and the quality of the work is stunning!
Have to say it's got me all inspired to keep pushing with my rebuild!

yep - been an overhaulin fan for ages.. good stuff, gets a bit on ya nerves about how they focus too much on presenting/acting for the camera, pranks etc. not enough on the car itself.. Ah well, tis usa..
pfffft, how its made is THE program to watch.

Chip Foose has great vision for modded cars. You can get the DVD's btw.

try watching American Hotrod too.

When they use filler, it's as a skim to get the bodywork perfect. It's not as though they use it to fill a 6" hole in the roof.
Overhaulin' is definitely the best of the bunch.
When you can Ade, check out Wrecks to Riches. There is a UK and US version. The UK is pretty thorough with the work done to the cars, this isn't about customising, but about repairing cat c/d write offs. Interesting to see how they go about doing some of the repairs. The US version is much 'louder' yet the quality is very high. There is an annoying auction at the end of each episode, but you can turn over by that point, lol.
American Hotrod is funny. Some of the people on that show are complete idiots. They probably act it up for the cameras, but if I had to choose between Boyd (American HotRod) and Chip (Overhaulin') to build me a car, Chip would win all day long.

American Hot rod gets on my Tits. That Boyd Coddington is a muppet.
Like you say though Jim, they must act up for the camera.. Almost like Dog the bounty hunter! (now theres a thread in itself) LOL

Annoying as it is you have to remember that Boyd is a pioneer in the hot rod world. Boyd has reset the standard time & time again. He is a man with great vision he's just not a great public/motivational speaker at times!
The Boyd/Foose debate divides the US and there is no real answer. Both are 2 very talented men.

My favourite show on Discovery has to be wheeler dealers - I just waiting for the show where they do a GTE or GSi. I've seen them all too many times now, they need a new series.

Mike Brewer is a cock.
Overhaulin is awesome though , chip is a legend.
Cant stand boyd coddington , he might be great blah blah blah but he speaks to people like he owns them , id knock him out.
Same with that american chopper , dont think id try to knock the big guy out though lol.
Damn it! I need sky.
I remember watching one episode of American Hotrod, it was with a new guy. They asked him to spray the seat subframes with a rattle can, but to make sure the ball bearing in the can stopped before he started painting.... he shook the can for about 4-5 hours - come on now, I know their american but surely no-ones that stupid

Weres Flashbang when you need him..
American Hot Rod for me :D I watch it on Cable before going to work every morning lol
Chop Shop - London Garage is pretty cool to. That wrecks to riches sounds pretty good though, never watched it but my take a looksie at the cable guide for it :D
there was a scene on American Chopper that was absolutely staged but it was funny...
The customers were in the conference room, and Paul jr & Paul sr walked in, having kicked the doors clean off their hinges, they then sat down as if nothing had happened. the customers were shaking like sh1tting dogs.
The main problem with the us imports is that they are made for 35 minutes running time per hour, so when we get them they need padding out to fit uk running times.
Mike brewer is the greatest ball sh1tter this side of the danube!! Ill never forget the wheeler dealer episode where he bought a ropey old 205 GTi, and while driving it back, apparently 'disaster struck' and a massive plume of smoke was following it along the road.
Although when back at the workshop, all Ed China had to do was fit a new gear linkage??!! That is still the ONLY thing ill ever ask him if i meet him!
Cant stand the yank shows, too much bull, much prefer the no frills british progs, as mentioned, wrecks to riches, scrapheap challenge etc...
All them programs are ace.
Cant wait to get sky back in my room (Tuesday hahaha)
Channel Dave is good for all you guys who like top gear repeats

The new series of beetle crisis? Campervan crisis was good, kit-car crisis was awful.
Look out for the 'is born' progs, kit-car, race car and 4x4, the bike ones are crap, most are a bit of a p*** take if you're allready experienced with what they're doing though.
VW Mania is a car show, as in Billing or PV, or is it actually a TV series with the same/similar name?
^ TV series, about some random 73 Bug that is a sh1tter to start with and they make into a mega show car in about 6months or something

I'm impressed, they actually made a nice GTO here, aside from the God awful wheels

Having said that, they have destroyed a Challenger
From this, beauty in standard form:

i watch that show all the time propabbly seen most if not al of them. Chip deffo knows what hes doing.
Sometimes wonder what he would do to a Nova if he had to overhaul one. Its one thing doing big american muscle cars but european ones are a bit different.
Would love to see it though. Novahauled :D
