Im wanting to have a 1.4 engine conversion but was wondering how much better the 16v version is to the 8v version cos ive been quoted a price that is nearly twice as much for the 16v as it is for the 8v.

Does anyone have any info to compare the 2 engines (e.g Performance figures etc)

cheers for the help :) :D

if you are willing to pay serious money, big power can be got from the 16v head. bottom ends are the same. if the insurance is a lot and you aren't gonna do anythin wit the 16v then go for the 8v. and if yer goin 8v then i think the 1.3sr engine is a lot better than the 1.4. i used both. the 1.3 had a full Ashley system incl' 4 branch and fast road cam.
otherwise go multipoint injection on the 1.4. i did this for a while too and it ran very well and was quick enough (no figs for any of these.....sorry)
i put on the head and inlet manifold of a GTE and and ran the injection

yup, 1400 carb engine, ie the 1400sr, 1400L, 1400 summit or other

1400 single point found in early 1400sri novas and thos badged 1.4i

1400 multi point found only in later nova sri's, ie k reg onwards

16v vs 8v, well the 16v has more tourque, is a better all round engine, more refined etc. would want to comment on performances of the 8v vs 16v but a mates corsa sri 16v is a dead match for a 1400 sr nova in town, both std, bu t the corsa weighs more.

why not put a 1600 8v in from a gte nova? you can get the full running package from 50-100 quid

corsas also came with the 1400 multi point and single point engines

if you are having the 16v put in, why are you wanting to know about the 8v?

cos i wanted the 16v cos its faster but the price is twice as much and am having second thoughts as to wether i can afford it or wether i should stick to the 8v if its not too slow :D

16v is a much better engine to tune up and worth the extra money
