View Full Version : Sport mk1 saloon?
Ive been thinking about what i can do to the saloon style wise. And ive been thinking about doing a sport rep as what it would of looked like if they done one. What does everyone think about this as im sure its never been done before or is there a reason to this?

Sounds like a good plan as it means the mk1 front end will be staying I assume....?
I've always wanted to do a baby Cav turbo replica in white to a 4-door with mk2 bumpers etc, leave tops of bumpers grey or Black.
Think that would look quite good. Yea if i decided to do it the mk1 front will be staying. Just want something thats never been done before
How about a GSi kit and speedlines
lol
Sport replica sounds good. Get some Irmscher sideskirts on it too :D

5 stud with Cavvy turbo rims....
If your going for the full sport look the decals will be to short due to the huge back quarters 5the saloon has.

You could have new stickers made up, the design isn't complicated so wouldn't be hard to do.
But if your going to make it look like a sport - get the twin carbs on so it sounds and goes like one too!
The decals are hard enough to get for a hatchback never mind a saloon.
Not only would the standard stickers be too short, they wouldn't fit over the wheelarches properly. Custom ones would most certainly have to be made - even if you did source some hatch sized ones, they'd be better off on a hatch!
A signwriter should be able to sort you out some vinyl if you show them a picture of a sport and let them measure up your car.

Thats pretty much what I had in mind for my Saloon originally (but with a less ghay spoiler lol), but I'm keeping it Mk1. For now... although that pics is making me want to change... :D
well i know i cant get a off the shelf kit for it, I would show pics to a local sign maker to get them custom made. obvious it will look abit diffrent as ill have to guess it on somethings. but aslong as it looked close i think it would look quite smart. and would have t40s or maybe r1 carbs. And i like the idea of cearos or spiders in white or hurcaine gray?

If your gonna do it then I'd go the whole hog and use 3 door hatch arches on a 3 door saloon.
Would require some decent body work for the rear arches.
The vinyls wouldn't suit round arches.

Do that and you'll be banished from the soutwest region :D
The graphics could be adapted to go on the 3dr arches just as well, the lighter patch that sits atop the arch flare on the 3dr could just be changed so its round and sits on the flare of standard round arches.

It'd look gay if it had round arches.

should have been made using rear arch panels rather than adapted fronts, but never the less, andys saloon looks the nuts.

i have to agree...
I know they're what gives the Nova its identity, but I really don't care much for the box arches. The flared arch looks ok, but I don't like the squarer arch shape. I prefer how the round arch fits round the wheels better.

you dont put round arches on a saloon, if anythink make them bigger like mk5 golf arches one them. i would never put the hatch arches on the car just not right. and for thos saying the graphics cant look right on the round arches. you have no faith, if you take long enough on it you can make anythink look good. even fords lol

The idea of even owning a nova saloon is to be different. So by putting hatch arches is gay, you should of just bought a hatch. Next it'll be 'ooohhh it must have a wrap round spoiler too'.
How about buying a rust free top condition low mileage 3dr hatch, and then welding a saloon boot to the back lol

But I also own 2 novas.
You drive a GT4 and own a saloon so I reckon that puts us on an even footing. :D

lol Or just get a 3dr and put the saloon arches on it. Vast improvement either way.
