no the carb ones did not use an engine management system, only the injection ones do like the GTE/GSI and spi

hmm thats interesting then isnt it :) does that mean they dont have a engine wiring loom aswell then?

No, they just have a smaller loom.
The coil/dizzy/coolant temp/alternator/oil pressure etc still need wires.

why then does the mk2 (Up to K -93) 1.4 sr engine run off carb with no ecu, but have a catalitic convertor, does it not have a lambda sensor then either?

it doesnt, easy mistake if your not into your engines. The 1.4SPI looks like a 1.4 carb but is slightly different (looks wise that is) the carb wont have a cat an the spi will.

As phil said.

No carb engines have a lambda or cat.

oh, hmm but i was told on here all nova srs have the carb engine, even the mk2's which run up to 93 so does that mean they didnt have cats?

all sr's did have carb engines, the sri however did have a cat and is normally what would be a 93 car, but there were some sr's made at this time.
