Sounds like you've forgot the alternator earth cable.
As the lights both earth through the alternator.

nope earths are fine, i went to the auto electrician earlier and he said that the actual alternator was faultly so changed it back to my old one, all the lights are working as they should, so ive just got to wait until the battery has recharged and hope that solves it, fingers crossed
Aye, if earths fine, alternator is indeed fooked.
Rectifier pack or something gone in it.
why did you change it if its fine??
