Picked up a c20ne at the weekend from Lee h (cheers mate) just to be abit different, and i am shortly goin to start rebuilding it. Just wondering what the rough power will be with the following spec?:

Lightened and balanced bottom end, arp rod bolts, lightened flywheel, ashley exhaust, ported + polished head, solid lifter conversion, kent cam and vernier pully, with twin 40's suppling the fuel lol

I know there 112bhp standard but with mods im hoping for 180 or higher, What do you guys think? :thumb:

Depends largely on which cam, and how good the headwork is.

The answer that you were looking for though, is:

"Twice half its length."

180? Thats a serious spec and wont be achived with those mods I'm afraid.

Also no point in using solids, unless you are hold high revs for longer periods... if you are you should look into steel rods.

40's will be the key restriction above 150ish...

it will be used for 'fast road' so with that spec then if i dont do solid lifters, im looking at about 150ish? what cam would people recommend? just doin some research first lol

Well, with the money the stuff that you've listed will cost you, including carb setup, you could rebuild a C20XE and have around 150bhp to start with, better fuel economy, and better cold starting/idling.

There's a reason everyone puts an XE in ;).

Id go with a 285-295degree cam. you "caould" keep the solids and fit a much higher ramp rate (longer duation cam) in with less peak lift to get big air flow but thats still going to make it a bit peaky (beyond the T40's abilities)

so imho I'd stick with a 290ish deg cam on hydraulics
