im taking my 2.0 8v out over next few weeks to clean it up and tidy the engine bay up
i'v been thinking about converting it to turbo
but i'v never had anything to do with turbo's
and would'nt know where to start so could someone educate me
on what would be involved
im not looking for big power but maybe a basic budget bodge that could be
upgraded over time
any help apreaciated :thumb:
weel, for a start, the compression ratio is already 9.0:1, which is what a calibra turbo is, so you will not need to lower the CR. maybe just put 2 headgaskets on to be on the safe side.
Turbo needs oil, so the block needs drilling and tapping to get oil from engine to turbo.
You will need a custom manifold, and also an intercooler of some sort. Also you need to make the pipes up from turbo to IC then to top hat(inlet) Also need to up fuel pressure a bit.
Thats basically what is required in simple terms lol

might sound a bit dumb but turbo to ic??? intercooler!
would the internals cope with mild boost
a modded standard minifold to suit turbo fitment is what i would use
as above im not looking for high spec to start of with
so this is what i know>
turbo to manifold
downpipe from turbo
charge pipe to???? inlet
and oil supply
intercooler would a td work???
as above where would you tap for a pick up for oil and i take it you would need a return too
see when it come to turbo's im a complete novice lol
the oil pick UP would be from the oil pump (a few places there) and return wants to be as low as possible but above the oil level... ie the top of the sump
