I've got the previous design (GS-D2) on the front, and the replacement (excellence) on the back, both great tyres in the wet.
a539's are awfull lol , only good thing is that the last for ages

Seconded, way better than my previous Toyo T1-S's in the wet.
Kuhmos.
Oh fcuk no.
Kuhmos are so bad they're positively dangerous.
depends on the tyre Jack.
fat man ran some Khumo track stuff and they were great (till the end lol).
Im on Hankook RS-2's, good in the wet but ive been on better tyres.
F1's always win! jsut a little pricey
Not had experience of their track tyres, but I've had a range of their road tyres and... yikes lol I'm not talking about the cheapo ?50 remoulds, this is their "performance" road tyres!
I'm quite tempted to take off the ones I have on now, they're that bad. I have to tiptoe over roundabouts and even then the car is all over the shop lol

No there not. Bloody good i my view. Used them on the V6 cav and on my astra coupe and think there good. Certainly have them again. Just your driving mushlol
Blarg, they've been awful on my Celica. Even the falkens I had on before were better.

What are those Vreidenstein tyres like? I've heard a few people recommend those recently

Kumho's, KH11's.

i have no problems with them
It's all about the Road Champs guys,
?5 a tyre from your local 2nd dubey
The Eagle F1's I have for the Nova are awesome!
I also have some Marangoni Zeta Linea's for the GTI-6 and they really are fantastic. The steering response is almost like running a slick tyre. They look great as well.

I'm going to try Vredestein's next going by the results of EVO mag's tyre test.
Very close 2nd to Eagle F1s in the wet & a good tyre in dry too. Reasonably cheap to boot.
Yokohama are a dreadfull tyre IMO, esp onNovas.
Uniroyal Rainsports
Superb in the wet, and as good as Toyo's in the dry.
They last longer too because there a slightly harder profile than Toyo's.

I didnt get on with my Rainsports & the profile was huge on 195/45/16. They looked like 60 profiles.
Yokohama are a dreadfull tyre IMO, esp onNovas.
If we are talking A539s then that is seconded, they are fun in the dry but horrid in the wet, especially where braking is concerned as they don't shift water that effectively.
I've had positive experiences of Kuhmo Ecsta KU31s in 185 55 14 in the wet on the 1.2 Nova down to the point where there was 1mm of tread off the treadwear indicator (total tread depth = 2.6mm), then they became sh1t. They did not like heavy braking and I got shot of them as I lost all confidnece in them.
Toyo T1-S are similar, they are great then they get a bit too low (but not illegal) and its time to replace them. Its a bit of a false economy - My money would be on the T1- R tyre; you get a bit more out of them.
Goodyear Eagle F1s are highly regarded and would probably be a good place to start - especially as they are proven on a light car like a Nova on this forum and on many Pug 205/Fiesta forums.
Think of it this way, would you spend an extra 20 quid a corner and be safe, or buy poor quality tyres and end up smashing the front end in and having to source a new bumper, slam panel, bonnet, wings and anything else for 80 quid cos you can't stop in the wet?
eagle f1's all the way, there are alot of people who know i am almost retarded when it comes to this tyre choice. Having said that those that i have ranted to about them have tried them and agreed 100%. As said many times before i use these as my wet weather tyres on track and still give the car 100% regardless of standing water or heavy rain as proven with the pics (those that attended llandow know this either by watching or listening to my tyres squealing like pigs in the rain lol lol lol )
i paid ?30 for a yokahomma a539 then got my bro to fit them not sure what the front ones are dont grip very good tho
^ I found them good.... for the two days in summer when the road was tacky, rest of the time they scared me, slight bit of damp and it was close to driving on ice.
Eagle F1's on the other hand are, for lack of a better word, emense! I do recon they may ever work better in the wet than dry, but that could be down to expectations. I have be relably informed that the newer F1's are manufactured in China rather than Germany and made of a cheaper rubber.
As for price, I pay ?52 per tyre (195/45/15) which im happy to pay as it's your one and only contact with the road.... well hopefully.
Also a note for people wanting Toyo 888 195/45/15's - you're not going to get any this year. A new race series has started (I forget which one) and they have bought the entire next years supply for the UK! :(

the fronts are wanli s-1099 i think good tread pattern tho
I have A tyre companylol always 3,5d on stock! Have tested a lot of brands. For road use and slalom, i use 2 type of brands on my car. Michelin on the front, and avon on the rear. The avon's tend to heatup kwickly and therefore create less over steer. For pure road use, i have a set of bridgestones ER300. realy perfect and cheap.

Got Yoko A539's on the Sport, pleased with their performance in the dry, never really been tested in the wet!
Got Goodyear F1's on my 3.5litre Rover Vitesse SD1, and think they are excellent in the dry, controlling the rear wheels!, although again never really tested in the wet, been Good on damp surfaces, not too many broadsides!
but supposed to be awsome in the wet!
I always like premium brands on my cars, it is all that is between you and the road!!! It pays!, it is you neck riding on them!
It has to be said that all these "New " brands are catching up with the premium makes!
It pays to research, it is expensive to buy tyres and be disappointed!
Don't like conti, sport contacts, lasted 17k miles on a pug 206cc that wasn't pushed hard!
I found that A539's were a little slippy in the wet TBH.
Cant fault Falken ZE512's though, they were perfect on all my SR's, however upon engine change to a 1600, in the wet now and again it got a little outta line at the front, and spun me round 180degress once too..
Yoko AVS sports I found were second to none in the dry though, shocking in the wet mind.
