hi guys.

while at work i was doing some stuff to a calibra 2l 8v ne engine.and wandered if the throttle body off that would fit onto my nova gte.

my mate with his escort gti fitted a 2l focus one on his and wandered if this type of thing can be done??

thanks.

i have been throught this one before and the outcome was a 2lt 8v wouldnt fit so the best option is to get the standard one smoother and the flap butteryfly cut all little bits can be done.

if clean out the original one & fit a cav 1.8 throttle butterfly as there totally flat as oppose to the GTE item having a big wedge shaped thing on it.

sure the wedge is there for a reason ?

Usually the wedges can be unscrewed (if you strip down the TB).

Irmscher actually produce an enlarged TB for the gTE engine which is still available. ?150 though.

Some people have fitted 2.0 Carlton ones with an adapter plate, but they always report rough idle.

[edit] Interestingly, the std TB on a C16XE is a fair bit smaller than the 8v one.

err a cavvy tb will fit as they are actually the same size, well the one i had was. as for a larger one i spied a 2.4 straight 4 vauxhall engine which had a mahoosive TB which would of fitted

Id bet one pound that a larger tb on a standard engine would make no different at all.

Id bet one pound that a larger tb on a standard engine would make no different at all.if it hasnt got the extra fuel aswell then of course it wont

chris astley used a carlton gsi3000 throttle body on his 1.6 8valve.he says it needed a bit of modding to fit though.

Indeed.
But thats for 160+bhp......

also he had mappable management.dont know how/if it would run on standard ecu

Exactly, so his engine required a larger throttle body.
A standard one wont.

I had the same debate with myself when i had a Corsa SRi 8v (C14SE).

I had a Frontera 2.4 8v TB which IIRC would bolt up, but didnt have an ICV or TPS on it.

Could be waaaay wrong though :D
