View Full Version : Oulton Park Trackday...
Went down to oulton park on friday, unfortunatly i didn't have the funds to go on. But, a couple NL people may remember my friend/passenger/driver from the Llandow Trackday in the summer - Well, he recently bought an Evo 6 so decided to give it a thrashing !

I went there... ready, but i couldn't justify ?100 for 3 hours in the afternoon !
Shame, as the cold weather had made a massive difference to the nova. It was feeling great that day :(
The Evo 6 was brilliant, flames-a-plenty and we were trouncing pretty much everything - bar the Radicals / Porchse GT car. A friend also brought down his newly aquired Evo 9 Fq360 - a bit quicker than the fairly standard 6, but it was alot more refined.
The second time i've been to Oulton now - HIGHLY recommended, easily the best circuit i've been to. I reckon Dar's car would be awesome round there

Your nova is the bomb! lol
Some good pics their what camera was they taken with.
EDIT- and how much have you lowered it?
Oulton is a great circuit, definately need to get on there next season!
Looks like a top day had!
Yer it's not bad for a 1600 8v, but it's kinda lost in all this 300+hp jap stuff.
My friend took those pictures, with a SLR thingy with a peado lens.
Too much - 60mm front ? -80mm rear

As much as i enjoy the smaller circuits - like Croft, Llandow. Oulton park has such a mixture of technical sections, high speed corners, long straights. Even has a Banked hairpin ! Great fun.
If you book around this time, i think the days start off at around ?130 for the full day open-pit. the day will end up about an hour shorted due to light, but it beats paying ?239 ! Obviously, the price ramps up to about ?190 the closer to the day it gets. But book in august, and you can get yourself a complete bargain.
Also, the facilites are amazing. Pretty new cafe, toilets. There's even a petrol station on site. And the pit garages are great !

I wouldn't mind seeing some more open area shots of ya nova all around need some inspiration to look at lol..
IMO the height it sits at is nice.
What power does that evo knock out never been in 1 but the Subaru STI UK i was in was very quick.
Great pics of the Evo on track.
Did that background Monaro go out? :D
The STi Uk's are a shade under 300hp IIRC. The evo's around 286hp as standard IIRC, but it's a bit lighter than a new scoob. This one has a Decat/exhaust and a HKS Induction kit. RR'd at 330hp (take that how you will) but it's quick - the FQ 360 couldn't pull away.
I'm not sure if the new Scoobs come with AYC (i don't think so, but they do have electronic centre diffs now), but after being in a Uk WRX tuned to about UK300 spec around oulton park, the evo wins hands down due to the yaw control through the corners, you can just push and push and it laps it up.
There was also a Eagle headlight shaped (i believe thats the techincal term) STi. They have the 2.5 Blocks, much more tuneable - that was extreamly quick down the straights.
(DISCLAIMER - I don't have a clue about JAP stuff, so don't rely on any of that lol)
No, unfortunatly not - Allthough the Porsche with the in-built hydraulic ram-jack things was.. DROOL. There was also an Insane mk2 Escort Grp4 style thing. , There is a longish pit straight (about 120mph in the evo's) and your meant to overtake down the left. However, this guy obviously was on a mission so did about 5 cars down the pit wall lol.
Novalad - Just PM me your MSN or something and i'l sort you out some pictures on there.

Aye i love being in a scoob when it takes a bend and you can keep pushing the power more and more and it will just stick it out...
Obviosuly i havn't driven 1 but being passenger was enough to fuel my ''NEED FOR SPEED'' haha! lol how corny!
Wait till you go in an evo.
From my expirience (which is fairly limited) the Evo's are much better. They feel slightly wierd at first, when the AYC starts sorting it out for you !
Anyway, enough talk about Jack cars. I love my nova

Nice pics. Oulton seems a good venue, central-ish location iirc etc.

Yer, Warrington - still 75miles south from me ! About the same from the midlands.
I believe they discount on group bookings. Maybe something to think about next year.

Great pics, that Porsche looks the nuts.
I met someone at the weekend with a GT3, hopefully I'll be blagging a ride sometime soon.
