T3 should be good for well over 300bhp.

because Gm made it, it runs of a motronic ignition system is a 2ltr turbo and develops a little less then the redtop turbo and is a lot cheaper lol

T3 should be good for well over 300bhp.

T3's come in various sizes, not all of them will be good for 300bhp !!

if its a recent (post 2000) turbo engine then its essentially the same as the 2.2 chain driven ecotec engine but de stroked, decent head and a turbo fitted.

No its a pre 2000 one as the ones after this are mostly 2.3s and dont come with the motronic ignition,

Good job for you then chap that i work for saab lol. Imo the later engines are far better..better management etc (trionic) than the earlier 1's. 300bhp is a long shot imo but it is easily doable (sp?) If your gona do it all properly make sure that you clean the sump out coz believe it or not we still have issues at work with blocked sumps!

All Saab petrol turbos are chain driven except the v6's :thumb:

well its the 175bhp version and the carlsson turbos the old ones run 204 bhp out the factory so dont think it will be lol only one way to find out

I think your in for a shock personally...like i said, it is doable but it all depends on budget and if its done properly or not. It is a good engine though

use a t3 turbo for now you could always get a different stage tune on the turbo later on in its life don't get at4 like on person said as it will lag like mad

Wanna buy some Saab reds for it?:wtf::D

Interested to see how this turns out as i used to work at a salvage yard and these engines usually just get binned.

Well just thought id be a bit different from the conventional xe and let engines and v6 conversion considerin ive never seen one of these done and they produce more power than the xe and are cheaper, will see what happens

i've heard of someone putting 1 of these in a cavalier right enough.......it would defffinatly b interesting to see how its done

the wiring and that could b a bit of a problem though..im not to sure

my dad had an old saab 99 turbo in the 80's...........and it was a seriously quick car for them days.........especially when you considder the weight of the big beasts lol

fantastic engine my saab 93 had it and ive worked on many there good for 200k easily just be generous with oil changes.also the engine is a very heavy lump compared to a red top extra strength to engine bay and suspension needed

P Whack
10-11-07, 07:59 PM
Yeah the engine bay will be getting seam welded and possibly chassis strengthening kit, the wiring shouldnt be too difficult as it is essentially the same as the redtop as it runs the bosch ecu just need to check the colours of the wires

so from the sound of it no one ahs ever fitted one so im affraid your on your own in terms of what mounts to do etc, but its only a matter of basic fabrication and a bit of time..
