There is a interesting fluid escaping from my home made breather tank, clearly the tank is leaking, i have checked and re tighten'd the pipes connecting to the tank but still there is a leak. I will take the tank out and fill it with water but i'm 99% sure that it is the tank that is leaking.

What it is leaking however, well i don't know. Have a look at the pic's, i've checked oil filer cap for any mayo and also the expansion tank but they are as clean as a whistle.

What is this stuff and what in the world is causing it!!!

That, is water vapour/condensation from the tank mixed with oil vapour an all the other nasty shizzle in the catch tank.

Yes, last weekend when i first discovered it, i'll get another picture of the tank. It's huge, much bigger than the baily ones, almost on par with the expansion tank!

That's clean, i changed the oil and filter last weekend too.

Although it has used about a mil of oil (on the dipstick) I've probably only driven 60 miles in it since i changed the oil?!

Its probably just damp etc(with cold nights) getting into the catch tank, emulsifying any oil in there, leaving you with the messy crap than you now have.

Does the car get used often?

Not really, but when it does get used it get used well.

not far off saloony, you should see the engine bay lol

How easy is it to re weld something like that?

I'll get pics of the turrents to show!!!

The chap i bought it off did all the work himself so i can only assume him! Although if i was given a chance bet i'd be worst!!!

Although to be fair it is quite a cool little breather tank, it's got a BMX style tyre valve welded in the bottom (can't really see in pic) with a tyre cap, you use this drain the tank. little things please littel minds eh!

yea that defo looks like emulsified oil, if the engine is running fine then id just keep an eye on the oil and water levels and maybe take it for a good B lane thrashing to try and clear out the breather lines :thumb:
