250-300 I'd want to hear it running as well.

You could pay the above for a complete car if you can find one or pick one up from a scrappy for 50 quid.

I payed ?275 for a whole car so i could hear the Astra mk2 16v running broke the car and got my money back so engine cost me ?50

Ia gree, its not so much the cost, but I'd be after a sub 100k example bought from someone breaking the car or the the person that knows the engine & some of its history. Ideally hear/see it running.

Donor car is ideal for this. However you could still buy it cheap in this way. But a random engine no one knows the history of could still be ?250/300.

buy one as cheap as possible, then spend the rest of your money giving it a full rebuild.

il be after one in a few months, il try and find a full car tho and make money stripping it.

thats pretty much the "best" advice going tbh.

I'd work on 1bhp lost per year rule of thumb.

AYe, id look for a complete car too.
That way you can drive it, make sure its all good.
You get EVERYTHING you need for a conversion.

And you can sell the rest and sometimes end up with a free engine,lol.
