shame, my mate sold his kadett c not too long ago... was a 2door with ashley exhaust and billys, cool car!! far better than the chevettes! sold for ?400 robbery.

and a better note, top gear is always fun! its clearly scripted but still clarkson makes it so funny, and just bullying may. awesome

lol was v funny.
What I wanna know is what wasa the hamster's mate grinding away to get Oliver started again and WHAT was he glueing back on with bostick model glue!

I BET theres complaints about them burning bits of car (or dumping bits of car) in the middle of the dessert.

Anyone else cringe and shout NO! when Clarkson walked over the the Kadette with the spedge hammer?

PMSL at African Stig!

WHAT was he glueing back on with bostick model glue!

I think it was the air filter,Lol.

I read a while back that there were complaints about what they did (driving across the salt flats thingies etc,Lol), because they've taken millions of years to develop or some bollox.

ade
05-11-07, 12:48 AM
theyve been there millions of years and will stil be there for millions of years.
Based onthe amount of dust the tracks willbe gone in a week and if its realy salty most of the metal dumped will be gone in a year!

lol

What did they do with the cars in the end - will they be in the studio next week?

Mary Rice of the Environmental Investigation Agency, which carries out conservation work in Botswana, said the BBC's example could lead hordes of "boy racers" to follow suit.
LMFAO yes, Ok I'll just drive my Nova all the way out to the middle of the African desert just to drive across an extremely inhospitable salt flat. Its not going to change how the locals drive, as those who are lucky enough to have a car which can get out to the salt flats, already do drive them out there. Mary Rice, perhaps next time you should engage what little brain you appear to have before making flippant comments such as the above.

I also note that report fails to mention the Americans have a long history of taking their cars out to the salt plains in Nevada and Utah and generally ranting them around - including for the world land speed records. Not to mention their usage for movie making, festivals (Burning Man is held in the Black Rock desert), even space rocket launches.

lol You wouldn't be able to drive a nova over them anyway you would get 1 mile out and be sat on salt because it would have disintegrated.

Some people need to find better things to do with their time. If you find yourself worrying about conserving the flatness of a bit of dirt, its time to re-evaluate your life, as there are one or two other things happening in the world that are more important.

Philsutton

watching that made me really want a kadett, but thought ah a 40 odd year old car wont be reliable enough for work. But it drove across africa lol

Just seen what iainel posted, they really want to get rid of top gear for some reason.

Before they moan about some tyre tracks in the mud that no one will ever go as they will die they should sort out the fooking africans running around blowing **** up and poaching lions if their that bothered about the planet.

Ash
05-11-07, 07:13 PM
if the BBC got rid of top gear.... then there wouldn't be a lot of point in the channel, nothing else 'good' on it.

Philsutton
05-11-07, 07:15 PM
exactly, doesnt surprise me that people bomb us an america when people say things like that though.

I think it is hilarious that some nerd with a phd. in the workings of the lower intestinal tract of an ostrich tapeworm can get government funding to 'research' & spend decades driving round africa in a specially modified landrover without anyone caring.
3 Blokes in old cars do it to prove that you can go across africa in old bangers & its the end of civilisation as we know it.

As for that time clarkson drove that Discovery to the top of a scottish mountain & apparently wrecked a whole ecosystem.....plants have survived everything that life has ever thrown at them, the mountain would have been fine after a week..
