hi all,

i recently bought a 2litre 8valve track car, had a few teething poblems when i bought it as it was run on empty and believed it'd sucked up loads of s**t from the tank and seemed like the injectors were getting blocked now and again... after running cleaner and a tank of fuel through it, its better! but went to start today and nothing... there's a spark from the coil, but nothing from the dizzy... the cap arm and leads are all new so don't understand!?! any ideas?
there's a pic below of the dizzy does anyone know the plug lead numbering? as i need to get hold of a cav haynes manual :(

want to put the car on the rollers at work this week and get it remapped, its running a super chip, but it can be rempapped :)

any help appreciated! chris

could it be the tdc sensor? if that was what was causing the dying at 4.5-5k rpm and now there's no spark from the dizzy... is there anyway of testing?

so theres spark coming from the coil but not at the leads?
has the fuel pump been changed ti a mpi one?

Have you tested each lead??

tested each lead no spark... the pump is the mpi pump from the cav...

gonna go have a look again now.

right...

resitanc eon each lead is fine... there's a feed to and from the coil. the resistanc eis fine on the rotor arma and dizzy contacts. checked the firing order from the cav haynes manual which i bought today, everything is sound there...

we bumped it and it starts and runs, but slightly lumpy and misses as you rev it. all the ignition is controller via the ecu so there's no way of retarding or advancing the timing... i still think it could be the tdc sensor... where is it located?

anyone have a working spare they'd like to sell?

I'd guess the crank sensors buggered (or TDC sensor that you called it lol), its on the front of the block on the left hand side as you look at it.

changed the crank sensor... still no joy! i'm at my wits end. when you turn it over it pushes air/fuel out of the intake...

i think its timing but its all ecu controlled!?! anyone live near st. albans thats good with these engines?!?

money waiting!

i work in a drift prep garage and i have no motivation or time after spending 9hours a day to work on my own car... i'll have to upload some pics of a 1000bhp skyline in the workshop at the mo, has T51 to go on it :)

The ignition timing is fixed aye, as the dizzy cant be moved.

Is the spark from the coil strong? Perhaps the coils dying.

Is the cam timing spot on?

i doubt the cam has slipped a tooth, i will check!
when i bought the car it would die at 5k rpm, but when you accelerated gentley it would go past this... then the other day at work it struggled to start, got it home now it wont start all together...

i'm lost... was going to get a free remap on it this week as well :(
