View Full Version : 2.0 novas times??
Hom many times has this been asked?
Well im not sure and I dont really fancy sifting through 500 pages of the general chat!
So does anyone know the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times for a std 2.0 16v and 2.0 8v (130bhp) nova

Theres nothing standard about a 2.0 Nova in either 16v or 8v spec.
If the car is stripped out or full interior or has 17" wheels or 15" wheels, the times will vary greatly.
IMO a stripped XE will get into 14's. A 2.0 8v with interior will be in the 16's or 17's depending.

sorry to hi-jack but what is the DIFFERENCE between the xe and the seh (power etc)
Greg
XE is 16V about 150 bhp
SEH is 8v about 130 bhp
A 1/2 decent XE Nova should easily get into the 14's, my old XE with full interior, sound proofed, subs, amps, TV & Playstation ... used to run low 15's, best was a 15.1
A SEH should do a high 15 id say.
But as craig says, amounts of interior, size of wheels, driver technique is very important on a 1/4 mile run.

need this kinda thread be stickied??
tyres, wheels, weight (stripedout-ness), what gearbox is used, even suspension/setup all apply greatly to any cars performance in a straight line..
So if u like, a 2.0 8 valve with say, toyo 888 tyres, (semi-slick) and 14" compomotive mo's (small, lightweight alloy wheels) an f20 box (closer ratios than std. f16?) and virtually no interior would get the better of a more powerful 16 valve XE, with typical cheap radial tyres, cheap & heavy 15" vaux. /ebay alloys and say even with or without interior..?
Jonlem(and mates), ran a 12 ish 1/4 with a standard Xe(and a **** load of nitrous,Lol)
With a standard 150hp xe it aint possible run a 13 in a nova imo. Just not enough power.

may as well investigate the mk2 astra GTE's.. They did two versions; each with the two engines u speak of. Search the web for facts n figures.. Astra mk2's are only a bit heavier than novas so whack a few millisecs off of that...?

That would be a good idea.
Have one 1/4 mile times thread where everyone posts there spec(engine, tyres etc etc), and there 1/4 mile results.
For people to compare.

well, dont forget mr. driver..
Dar per examplay - he seems makes his 200bhp weapon look/appear to trounce anythin at coombe.
That would be a good idea.

Sounds like a good idea to me, or maybe were people go to RR's we could have a separate bit for bhp etc..
I know pvg used to have one, and the idea there wasnt to 'be the best' but just to have a table for those people that want to post up there stats.

Different timing systems at different venues vary though. Its not a constant.
Its like comparing rolling road graphs from various dyno's using flywheel figures against some @ wheels figures.
Might aswell call it the the 'pub brag thread'.
Thats the point though its not supposed to be taken too seriously, just as a general reference.
My seh done santa pod few years back in 15.7
