dead battery

ive almost finished fitting my xe and come across a problem if i leave the battery connected it goes dead if i disconect it stays charged. went to auto electrics they said its got a drain of almost 1 amp?? they want ?35 an hour to source the problem any ideas its got the earth from gearbox to chassis and one from the alternator to battery. thx

ive got the same prob with my 2.0 8v if i leave it more than about 18 hours
on a fully charged batt its dead,
have you had the dash off and full loom?

no i fitted the engine loom i think it only does it when the earth from the alternator

yes i fitted it last thursday didnt put an earth on then the battery went dead as i was driving it then i put the earth from alternator on friday then on saturday morning it was dead then sunday it was dead too so i disconect it and it stays charged

i disconected my earth lead from alternator to battery last night and when i checked this morning the battery was still charged what on the alternator can kill the battery
