View Full Version : Speedo stopped working!
Just a ticking noise coming from the dash. Reads 0 the whole time but the rev counter still works fine. It has stopped counting the miles too. Cable snapped?

cable snapped or speedo ring in the box
i unplugged the cable and drove up the drive. no spinning inside it at all. if i spin the lug on the back of the speedo the needle knocks up a tiny bit then falls abck down. so i'm guessing cable. how easy is it to change it?
more then likely cable snapped....one of my old Nova's only drive 8miles between MOT's due to this lol ....
good plan! so long as i have tomtom to give me a general reading of how fast im going... mileage right down!!!

I've got a 1.2 cable lying around i think... won't be able to get it till the weekend though.
how much of a job is it to replace?

Easy peasy.
Undo the cable at the gearbox with a set of pipe grips.
Push some cable through the bulkhead so you can get the clocks out.
Remove clocks, unclip cable at the clocks. Pull through bulkhead.
If you can wait a while I will have some white dial sri clocks for sale.

The slight cracking at the bottom is now covered with a black plastic strip
