I've now gone for 18 days without having the Celica and I'm starting to twitch.
It was supposed to be ready today, but they've found the seal where the propshaft goes into the transfer box is leaking and Toyota don't have one in the country - so its a couple days wait whilst the seal is shipped from Japan. So it's going to be Wednesday before I get it back, more realistically Friday no doubt.
Thinking it would be ready today, I gave alex her Pooloo back on Saturday, so I'm having to rely on a friend for lifts to work this week. Plus I obviously have no wheels to go do anything in the evening :(
I'm worried I'm going to have forgotten how to drive it when I eventually get it back... It was bad enough having to adjust to the Pooloo. I miss my dump valve :(
just sneeze when you change gear....
Go see ig vauxhall still do that 3 day test drive and get a VXR meriva lol

mines been off the road for over a month now and the cheap ass crap diesel is breaking me. I cant get away from trucks and the enigne has started knocking its tits off lol
pmsl, I tried adjusting the timing on the Pooloo to make it run a bit better. All was fine until I came to a hill and it started knocking like crazy, so loud it was like someone was hammering together some ikea furniture in the cylinders lol lol lol
Poor RJ I have a spare car you can use if you want. Just take your pick the Monty or the 6.

I've taken to "driving" the model GT4 round my desk in desperation. Complete with "whooooshptssh" noises for authenticity.
People are looking at me funny. I think they may be jealous of my turbo.

Sounds about right for a GT4. It took me longer to get the engine back in my Celica than it did to do a complete XE conversion on my Nova from start to finish!!
Thats a bit worrying, considering it took me almost a year to get the XE in the saloon lol

Telephone call from garage, the box is finally off at last and going away for reconditioning...

I sold my GT4 with crunchy synchros as didn't have the heart to take the engine out of it again :eek:
Day 22
Just had a call from the garage.
Toyota sent the wrong seal for the transfer box. Its a part they don't stock in the UK, so has to come from Japan.
So instead of picking it up today, its going to be next Tuesday - at the earliest. So probably next Friday then. Thats almost a month with no car for a job which was originally going to take 5 days.
Seriously this is getting stupid now :mad:

Just had a call from the garage.

As I've always maintained, if that was a euro box it would have spat all its gears out on the road a long time ago lol
But it would take a day to fix lol.

Day 28
No word this week from the garage so gave them a ring this morning. After giving up on sourcing the required shaft seal part from Mr T, they opted to go to TCB (a respected Celica breaker/parts supplier) who had the part in stock.
Said part was due to be delivered on Tuesday this week.
Its now Thursday. No part.
After speaking to the guy at TCB yesterday afternoon, the garage report that the part was still sat in TCB. The guy on the phone was apparently looking right at it as he spoke to them.
My eBay watch list is currently full of Mitsubishi GTOs.
