the highlights
So, there I am, sat at the lights minding my own business, when a silver Vauxhall Nova pulls up alongside me, and starts reving his engine.
"Look at this clown", I say to the Mrs. "Another yoof in a chav-mobile wanting a race, and thinking he has a chance". http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/hehe.gif "Why do they even bother?"
Lights go green, Chim launches off with 3000 revs dialed in. It slips slightly to the left, before digging in, hunkering down, and shooting off the horizen.
I look to my right, expecting to see said chav-mobile dissapearing in my drivers side door mirror, but much to my astonishment, and annoyance, the bloody Nova screams past. http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/yikes.gif
At this point I see the fully caged inteior, take note of the chirup of wastegate, and am drawn to the sight of perspex rear screens, and the ATL fuel filler cap for the bag tank.
When I catch this yoof at the next set of lights, I ask him, "What the bloody hell have you got in that? Its like **** off a shovel!"
To which he replys, "A turbocharged Calibra V6. Pushing out about 320bhp on a bad day, http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/hehe.gif "
And with that, he was off again.
I negleted to give chase, as the Chim was too busy hiding its tail between its legs. http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/paperbag.gif
So I guess the moral of the story is, although the Chimeara might be nippy, it sure as hell aint quick. And I suppose, to never judge a book by its cover. And the cover of this one was a reg plate that read "J boost", (I think the "b" was a "6" ).
Now, a 5ltr Takara conversion, with a supercharger, talk to me?
serves the s****ee flash git right
Came across a brown nova on a recent trackday.
http://www.pistonheads.com/inc/images/censored.gif, was it ever quick !
On closer inspection in the paddock, all was revealed as I stared at the Cosworth Engine and the 'very' uprated suspension and brakes.
Fair play, some of these boys spend a fortune. Don't know whether I'd choose a nova as my expensive trackday toy but each to their own.
Credit due.
Eh? Cosworth lump? this i'd like to see!
