does removing a cat converter actually make a difference to the bhp of a car or is it just a myth like for example a nova 1.2 pre cat has 60hp but after cat it has 45hp.

Thats more to do with the crappy injection system and other parts, but theoretically removing the cat should help a bit, yes.

1.2 carb has 55bhp btw, and the 1.2i has 45 - but don't expect a decat to add 10bhp.
