Who did hit that fox cause i didnt see it for shit, i was looking in my mirror half the time on the way cause fly wanted me to tow him i think, either that or i got a magnet on my back bumper and no one is telling me ;)

really good day all round, got so sunburnt, i am now in pain :(

Cheers for the grill rob, i needed one with the proper clips! Think a nova did 13 dead on the 1/4 mile which is pretty dam quick if you ask me! did anybody get any goodies while they were there then? roll on billing :D

Got meself a good bargain as well - quikrack from Matt at Redline for 50squids innit!
Very good day and nice to see everyone again. Got a little bit tedious how Vauxhall felt it was OK to keep sending their Astras round and round which lets face were nothing special but only a minor defect really.

I'm all Vauxhalled out now lol!

Cheers from the clutch frying king of Bedfordshire lol!

Top day, Seen Austins/Spanish fly's( Two Nice novas), Love the Grill Austin,
Deffo Highlight ov the day was the nova v's scooby, Good crack

Wat was the fastest Nova on the day then??? Where can u find out the times?

avon_nova
24-06-02, 12:54 AM
That red nova (issachunt.net) was the quickest. I love that car now!
When it beat that brand new scooby i was so happy for him, everyone cheered him when he won, brilliant. That scooby driver didn't do another run after that, too  Definately highlight of the day.

Had a chat with him afterwards it's a 2.0 8v turbo, 50bhp NOS jets, garrett T2 blower, lowered compression machined pistons etc.
Gets loads more traction by having solid rear shocks on standard springs, with lowered fronts. Only cost a few grand to do he did most of it himself too.
That's why i like Nova's so much they can piss all over cars costing 10 times as much, haha  piss the owners off!
Not sure bout all this issachunt business he had a t-shirt with it on too. Seems alright bloke though it's his everyday car!

Guilford cruise was lame in comparison tonight, though some bloke in an orange Nova nearly had a head on crash with a Celica, bloody close.
I got well sunburnt too, look like a lobster...

Jim
24-06-02, 09:49 AM
Wahooo...glad im not the only one that got sunburnt - do'h.

I thought it was an excellent day, Breeny, you didn't leave us behind in the convoy, I got stuck behind that slow ass Astra with the Throttle Bodies ;) Plus since I was in the middle of the convoy I thought it best to lead the rest of the guys to the Pod :)

I couldn't believe how many cars were there. Not sure if I saw a favorite car, there was a nice Astra in the queue to get in.

Was good seeing CP v Ian, shame the pair of them had clutch problems. Just goes to show you don't need a 2.0l engine to get a fast motor.

I thought the stunt driver was pretty good and broke the morning up nicely. Did he do another display in the afternoon?

Best race of the day was definatley the Nova beating the scooby

Was good to meet up with the usual lot, plus a few peeps that I've not met before.

On the way home I had some fun with one of those new MG Saloon's...Dam there slow, lol ;)

Look forward to it next year, I might even be tempted to go up the strip next time :o

I got there at 2pm, after getting lost a few times (nothing new there then!)
It was a good day, just spent most of my time at the trade stands ...didnt get anything for me though.

Thanks to gareth Welch for the rear bench ...I can re-upholster that in leather now! :)

I wanted a toy nova, but the traders are NEVER coming back to a Vaux show ever again ..so many of the models got nicked, he was fuming!
Said its the worst show he has ever been to...
its sad when fellow enthusiasts have to rip people off!

It was a wicked day out, saw a load of cool modded Nova's........... not really sure who's was who's though, but was good to have a gander at some of the cars out there.........

That orange/gold nova that ran the 13.xx secs was ace - couldn't beleive that a Nova could be that fast....... And the one that been the imprezza, think everyone laughed at old subaru boy after that......

The trick show bit was good, he even managed to break one of the corsa's in the afternoon. Sounded pretty hammered after he had broken it......... wonder if that will come out of his pay....... hehehe......

Will defo be up for some more shows now, especially if the weather is as good as it was on Sunday (my neck is still burning..... :o ).......

So has anyone got any pics or movies of the show......... come on, bet someone has........

Definately worth getting someone to sort out times next year. From what I saw of the Novas up the strip:
Anything with a 2.0l T was in the 13's or so.
2.0l valvers were in the 14's
2.0l 8v were in the 15's.
Lost the thread a bit with what was what lower down the cc scale but most 1.6's would probably be in the 15- 16's and 1.4's probably 16 -17's from what I remember at previous do's.
I myself managed 15.43 in my 1.4 when I finally managed to stop dying on the line. One very poorly clutch on the way home tho! Next time(again  ) lol!

Well I think it was a great day out, a fair bit to see and do, a lots of bargains to be had, got myself a disklock for ?40 :)
Met up with loads of people on the day, was good to chat with people and talk novas and vauxhalls in general, surprising the amount of knowledgeable people about. My car was stuck on the back of a stand so didn't get a chance to run up the strip, looked like the people that did had a right blast, 2 fav races were the subaru getting beat by the nova, and Vauxhalls rally slag Astra 4WD thing getting done by that turbo MK2 astra 5 door :D
Drive home was a different matter, had a play with a turbo'd Calibra, managed to out accelerate him coming out of a junction, so was well happy with that. Wasn't so happy with buckling both front wings on the shit roads on the way home though :(
Oh well, roll on new suspension and roll on Billing.
