i cant decide wether to get one or not. if i do what is the best package to get and where from?

they are great, jsut dont call Ms to get the RROD fixed lol.
seriously, mine was fine for a year then it failed. no biggie, call MS and get them to sort it..... might take a few calls and abuse but you get there in the end.
get an Elite as they are reported to be a bit more stable long term.

Dont bother!! get a PS3 lol much better in my eyes and not much more ? compared to the elite (check out the new SKATE game it is wicked)

Buy one already... don't bother with the PS3... by the time they get round to providing a decent stable online network it'll be replaced with a PS4!

The Elite is very Stable, been abuseing it the last week and its sweet as a nut! The Ps3 Online community is no were nere the size of X360's. I Mean saints row is nearly a yr old but still its has millions of people play it everyday!
and if ur gonna get a game Get TEST DRIVE UNLIMITED!

a week is hardly time for a console to show failiures though.

not slating the xbox as I do enjoy it, but when I was on the phone to MS about the warranty fix they said that they have a 20-30% failiure rate on the 360 (inc elite) and they deem that "good" as its the best any console has ever been...... ffs if we have ONE faulty ecu in 250K units we get a reaming!

I'd seriously wait another 6 weeks until the run up to xmas and take advantage of the drops in price in consoles. IMO it's not worth buying a PS3 until GT5 comes out, so you may as well buy an X Box which has bigger selection of games and some decent driving titles if you are into that type of game.

I had a xbox, played it for a while, didnt get on with it, so i flogged it. I`v had a ps3 for a few months now, first time iv stayed up plaing till 3-4 in the morning. Only got a few games (F1, colin mcrae, fight night, fifa, motor storm), but play it way more than the xbox ever got played. plus, i know its not going to pack up :-)

I remember a while back when the official word from MS was a 3% failure rate lol. I'm glad they finally caved in and admitted its more like 30%.
I still stand my ground with this one though.
PS3 = Poo... Xbox 360 = AMAZING.
Everyone I've known who've had issues with their 360 has had a turnaround of within 10-14 days for a replacement 360. My various Nova's have broken down more times than my 360 ever has. :D
hmm im not haveing very good sucess with MS in getting the UPS stuff sent through email etc.. its been 3 weeks so far with a call every 3 days about the info but nothing... ahh well

Gotta keep plugging away mate.
I'd ring them back and be a little angry and ask for a supervisor/manager. They seem to actually get stuff done quickly.
I love these comments saying things such as 'I abused my 360 for a week and it still survives' lol lol lol
Im truely amazed people are chuffed when theire 360 survives a week, i really am!

Unfortunately though, MS are the only company on the planet who are able to produce products that just dont work properly until about 3 years after their release (using Vista as an example, that probably wont be fully stable until the replacement comes out, much like XP), but still get silly sales and dont get a raping from trading standards.
Its like the whole planet is just used to it and doesnt care. Full credit to Bill though, if i could sell an unreliable pile of crap and still get better sales than Sony, id do it too!
It would be like Vauxhall bringing a car out that had a 30% chance of terminally breaking down withing the first year, but still outselling Ford. Utter madness lol
