right well i know basically f**k all about ice. Could anyone tell me what i should go for cos at the mo in my mk2 ive only got the standard shit speakers and a sony cd headunit. would the sound be good with a set of 6 x 9 's a sub an amp using the standard front speakers as well? or should i take them out? what sort of kit should i go for n how much would your suggestions cost? keep the prices low :P.......please. cheers
right i have left my front speakers in and got infinity 6x9's in a home made shelf (looks standard) with the fade biased to the rear to take most of the power away from the fronts. it sounds good since the fronts only "kick" in at high volumes.
sub size depends on what music your into. but generally a good 10" is a good place to start.
just look at the ads in the backs of mags and then go get a price match in halfords so you canwalk out with the stuff you want.
i will eventually get my ass into gear and write an article lol
I had a similar dilema and after much help from the novaload lads (ta) bought the following (based on me existing kenwood 4x35watt head unit running a 6 cd multichanger)
kenwood 2way 140watt 16 1/2" front speakers to put in the foot wells (?60)
Infinity 6x9's 300watt to be mounted on home made rear shelf (?99.99)
Dragstar amp (?79.99)
Good quality oxygen free cable and wiring kit (?24.99 comes as a kit)
I had ?70 vouchers mind from halfords but still not bad)
I needed the amp coz me head units a little weak
All purchased from Halfords in Glasgow/Braehead
I've yet to install it all and have been told dont need a sub as the infinities can hold their own
:D
Ade (who likes all sorts of music!)
hee hee i only paid ?69.99 (or so i think) for the infinity 6x9's the day before halfords were supposed to sell them, they are really stupid if you give em the right speil ;)
