NO!! the engine will only rev up to 2k and starve of fuel the way i did it was to remove the fuel pump get a cavalier 2.0 8valve in tank pump strip both pumps and put the cavalier pump into the spi,s mounting bracket and mine runs spot on now with no problems.hope this helps as it really easy to do but hard to right down lol

am i right in thinking that the mpi pump is metal and spi is plastic??
also all you do is swap the housings over the bit that bolts in the top of the tank?

You do havve to take the housing apart if you buy JUST a pump.

Easiest thing is to get the complete housing and pump from a mk3 astra, and in bolts right in then.

Spi tank is a much easier/neater option tbh.
No pissing about with crudded pumps then, and having to secure the pump frame etc.

is it just a case of un pluging the metal pump the swaping it over with plastic
what astras do these come from?

I got my in-tank pump from a 1.6 (or 1.4 can't remember) MPI mk3 Astra. I just removed it from the tank and bolted it straight in to my tank without any modifications.
