Panel replacement

I've got a mint door and front wing for the o/s off my Nova and i'm going to order replacement rear arches for both sides and a rear valance, would I save money on getting them fitted and sprayed if i did some prep like strip the door, remove the vynal and bump strip etc...?
How much is a reasonable price for the replacement of rear arches and rear valance?

I may have a brand new GM rear panel for sale soon, as for prep'ing you don't really save that much, espiecally for the hassel. Most bodyshop will say it's will not be prep'd to their standard anyway.

I had rear arches fitted for about ?50-80 a side.

I'd be weary of anyone who did it for less than that.

i got a quote for ?300 per side

?300 per side is absolutley ridiculous, you get what you pay for to a certain extent but this sounds as though you are being ripped off, it doesnt take that long to fit the arches at all especially by an experienced panel beater. on the other hand ?50 to ?80 dose sound very cheap, including paint i would say that a fair price to be paying is ?150 per side. then again why not put them in yourself, it really isnt that hard aslong as the repair panels arent twisted or bent, you just need to tack them in with loads of little spot welds, grind these down and smooth over with filler, take your time and you really cant go wrong, then just spend some money on having them painted if you dont have the means to do it yourself. hope this helps.

depends on who you know...

Hadrian panels (and sel inmperial although theyve changed their name) can get rear 1/4 panels for about ?20 inc vat. However you need to assess the state of the inner arch also...may need to some tidying up...

?80 approx isnt unreasonable - all in inc respray (which usualy means doing the whole side of the car for a good match) would be ?200 - ?300ish - but it depends on who you know, where you are, size of the body shop etc...
