'f.uck air ride'...........my god am i sick of hearing that bollocks :wtf:

im also a massive veedub fan so the issue is even worse over on the vw scene.

air ride..... car is low as f.uck when needed.
looks cool as fap.
can raise it for everyday driving ie speed bumps/petrol sations

X....handles worse than shocks/springs combo

coilovers on max........ damages car (just look at your pictures  )
cant get over bumps or into petrol stations

X....again, handles like s.hite, its far to low!

i just cant get my head round it? how is it 'hardcore' to have a car that you pretty much cant drive anywhere,....and when you do you wreck it?!

im tempted to do a car on 'air ride' and have a sticker saying 'i'm not a bellend, i love my car, thats why i dont want to rip the sump off on catseyes!'

disscuss....................

hows a few scrapes on the underside of the car wrecking it?

most novas with coilovers on the lowest setting will handle better then novas with 60mm springs.

and it looks cool a fcuk!

hahaha, 7j et 25 borbet T (14 inch). the pic above is with my old tyres (185-55-14), since a month it's on 185-50-14.
it's a c20xe, and a 60-60 drop. since the xe is in there it got a bit lower :)
i got about 3 cm of ground clearance.

we got speedbumps here... to much if you ask me.

@dave: veedub rules. old school rules. youtube for radikalbugz, gotta love it.

for me airride is fake, when people look you put it on the floor, and when youre alone put it on paris-dakar mode because you can't drive with a low car.

my nova scrapes, this nova is going to the scrap in a few months, and everything will be rebuilded on my other nova. on the other nova there's coming a plate to protect the exhast manifold and the oil pan. also the rear arches will be modded to get lower on the back. icm coilovers on the front, this suspension is a bit to loose

A few scrapes on the bottom will quickly rust and turn into holes if left alone. Keeping rust away from a nova is hard enough as it is, lowering a car so much that you give it plenty of places to get just seems foolish to me. Plus the handling will suffer and who really wants to risk having their expensive exhaust ripped off?

dont get me wrong here, yours is one of the cars on here that i really admire, i think its been really well done. your telling me if you had big scrapes like that on the underside you wouldnt be a.rsed?! that would keep me awake at night knowing i had fresh bare metal open to the elements...........especially on a nova

http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c341/mayhem22/SP_A0063.jpg

as for the car in question, to be honest it doesnt actually look that low? the back looks pretty high considering your scraping the underside on a regular basis??

on air ride you can have the car sitting on the floor, except on the flick of a switch you can raise it a bit to clear obstacles in the road

my saloon is lowered 100mm all round and has only got 10mm left on the coil overs. however mine has never scrapped on a speed hump and i can fly across santa pod field without it damaging anything.

as for the handling yes if i raised it abit it would handle better but its not a track car so why does that matter.

i can drive my car anywhere and dont wreck it in the process so that a fairly silly comment to

lol my silky was lower then that..

90mm rear 85mm front.

it use to cach the arches on lock, and the only time i hit a curb with the manifold was when i parked it 50/50 road path at a mates house.

Saying that though it dose wreck the handling.

My sump is 50mm off the ground

4-1 Manifold is 25mm off the ground

Will be changing to a 4-2-1 for clearance as the car is becoming undriveable, but fook it all in the name of aesthetics hey lol

the back is a bit high, i want it lower, only 7j et 25 wheels on a nova stick out a little.
over a few months there a full rebuild, with extra modded arches so i can get lower on the back.

my biggest problem is the c20xe, the bumpers don't look that low,the underside of the XE is the lowest point. about 25-30mm from the ground.

yours is fine mate, as said you have it low but its still drivable.

i just find it ridiculus to have a car so low your ripping off exhausts and scraping deep gashes into the bodywork. utterly pointless

Looks quality so its staying down 60

i no cars look cool as fap low............what im on about is the sticker saying 'fcuk air ride'.

you get the good looks of a lowered car (even lower than you can on coilovers) but none of the damage cos you can raise it at the flick of a switch.

how is that a bad thing?

don't get me wrong, for me airride is a fake way of lowering imo.
youre on the floor on a meet, and wen you go home, it's sky high cause you can't drive with a lowerd car.

i read al lot of 90 and 120 drops... there's no shop in the netherlands where i can find lower ones than a 60 drop in the back.

burgo
19-10-07, 05:59 PM
anything lower than 60 you have to get custom ones or "altered" ones like mine which started off 60 but are now 100 drop. personnally i dont ever beleave the claims of 120mm drop

Im sure if you did that the system would need to be routed through the boot floor and out the boot lid, as you would strugle,or not get over the rear beam.

ok, i was working on a solution to get lower in the back.

i know that the springs from a tigra rear coilover set drop a nova about another 2 cm (80).

yes scott i had to cut, weld and bend my exhaust so that it doesnt knock

i dont dare look underneath my car lol the sills on the E30 catch whenever i go over the smallest of bumps and even getting off my drive. the E36 cant even attempt it as the bumper cant even get anywhere near a speedbump lol and when you look underneath the few mm gap below the novas bumper you can see that the downpipe is VERY close to the floor, luckily its on line with the wheels though so technically should never catch...
