**** the car, think of my empty wallet!..:D

No i never wanted to see it get like that, and it was strange to think that's it after 4yrs of ownership she's gone!

But you know what they say, cut your losses, and theirs no way i was going to get that shell back on the road for small money, even if i did do it all my self.

please dont say you chucked the front part of the bolt in cage away or the front window as in need of both.

16-10-07, 08:27 AM
lol @ repairing it. I'd rather have a car that was straight and solid, than one which was full of welded plates and filler lol

btw, ?25 for the XE loom sound ok?

No offence, but that comment is a tad uncalled for. From what I remember, your car wasn't very rust free when you got it, and the fact its now rotten has nothing to do with him.

But a decent bodyshop would have found that, chopped it out and welded it?

16-10-07, 07:14 PM
Edit: he only painted the forward facing engine bay, i'm pretty sure thats rotted from the other side of the firewall through.

Yeah that area rots from the inside, looking from the engine bay it will seem fine, but stick your head under the dash on the passenger side and you'll see the rust, water sneaks in from inside the wheel arch. All of my novas have had some degree of rust there, its a real rust trap, and very annoying to get at to fix without taking the dash, seat and carpet out. Its a place nobody thinks to look at, so will quite happily rot away unnoticed, I bet many supposed "mint" novas will have some of the brown stuff lurking in that corner.

16-10-07, 07:25 PM
scott sell me the png stickers you took out of it pretty please :D

Keith I never named who did it so dose it matter that much?

But put your self in my shoes, one day you notice a big blistery part in the corner and then find that hiding behind seam sealer!

(i didn't get these pics till the car came back,EDIT:and did not pay close attention to them either)

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5616/rotenpartinbayxu7.jpg

I'm not stating a slagging match just defending my corner.

cant believe you scarppe dthat shell for that little rot man, i wish mine had that amount in in wouldve saved me a lot of welding time lol ( bearing in mind i used to do up oldskool vw,s and am used to replacing whole floors and bulkheads on the average cheap beetle project)

Yeah but VW Beetles/Camper vans are not ten to the dozen like novas so their worth doing, but the shell is just like any other nova out there why spend over £500 to repair it when i just took £500 and bout a mint one prepped for what i wanted??

The decision was made with alto of thought not just a flash in the pan idea..
