mk1 front bumper fitting

fitted my front bumper today but it sits quite far forward, it had a mk2 bumper on it and i left the 2 bars that go into the car on and just bolted the new bumper to them, are there shorter ones for the mk1's?

ive lft the original one on the bumper but not on the car, should i swap them, i cldnt get them undone because they had 2 bolts in the inner wing and were tight as fook!!
