Ive recently ''installed'' a c20xe into my nova with all the upgrades need, i.e brakes, rad etc etc and just wanted to see a few pics of novas with the rear edge of the bonnet lifted as i quite like this idea and doesnt seem to be too commen a mod.

Lifted for "additional cooling"? Don't, it doesn't work and IMO just makes it look like you've mis-fitted some bonnet lifters.

You just fit spacers on the bonnet hinges.
Not really needed imo, unless you get mega heat in the bay(big turbo etc)

mine has got a slight raise to the rear which is to clear the brake reservoir but i also quite like the way it looks

The bonnet on my track car used to be lifted at the rear.

And did you notice any benefits regarding cooling? (Assuming that's what you did it for)

Do you have evidence to back up this crazy idea? lol I would say it will help, so long as you get a flow through the front having an exit at the rear of the bay would help to move air through the engine bay. I wish I could do it to my corsa but they have seriously gay hinges an when you block it it just doesnt do anything lol.

Yes :D

I did find a page once before where a guy had tested it and it actually raised underbonnet temperatures, but sods law I can't find it now. Did find a page today where a mini owner reported no difference in engine temperature with the rear raised. Apparently its due to air flow and negative/positive air pressures in the engine bay.

i recon a car with the bulkhead removed it will help, however if the bulkhead is still there its not going to do much. i raised it with washers and longer bolts lol

i know it's not a nova but when i had an escort rs turbo i done this mod to my bonnet. i found it made the engine run cooler for longer under hard driving and in normal driving the fans hardly ever kicked in. IMO, it ok getting cold air in but all that hot air has got to go some where, and i think this aided the hot air exiting the engine bay.

i will be doing this mod to my xe nova when it finaly gets finished

Will those bonnet lifter jobbies still work ok with the mod?

Not sure as the second time i took it out it was raining and i forgot to pin the front down not fun.

I really don't think it will help a great deal.

As Baxters hairy twin has already pointed out if the firewall has not been taken out you will only create a tiny gap. However if you have taken it out you already have lots of holes right at the back above where the heater blower sits, so lifting the bonnet becomes pointless.

I seen this type of mod done on VW Beatles ages ago to let out hot air. It works well with those cars because of how the car is layed out. I don't think it is practical or worth while for every car.

However if you like the look of it then why not do it.

lol, real smooth dar. Anyway if the fire wall is removed or just the rubber bit then I cant see it being worse than before. It should create a low pressure outside the bonnet due to the moving air over the bonnet I think an help to move air out the engine bay?
