to make my gearbox feel "better"

at the moment it's just so sloppy and hates going into third. i was looking at new linkages, but i just don't have a clue what i'm looking for as such.

not sure if all nova's are like this, or weather mine has had a perticulaly bad life. also, how would i find out what gear box i have?

you could change linkage to rose jointed one which will help tighten the shift up, is the cluch onthe way out ?

sounds good

clutch is fine i'm sure, just the stick is sloppy.

where do you find this rose jointed gear linkage and how hard is it to fit in?

well, i really don't want to sound like a fassy, but that looks like a tricky bit of work? especially when you have a very limited selection of tools to use. how long does the linkage need to be out of the car for this?

just get the rubber block thingy replaced. get one from the gm dealer. also drain the oil out (remove the diff cover, you will need a new gasket) refill with new 80 grade oil. it will help quite a bit. GM reckon the oil will last for the life of the car, but after 15 years it needs changing.
