stereo advice

my friend has fitted his stereo into his corsa and works perfectly fine until hes starts the car and it just goes off and doesn't come back on till the engine is off can anyone help with this matter i myself think its just a wire that hasn't been connected but thought i would ask too see if anyone has come across this before.

What power cables does the head unit have, and where has he connected them to?

standard stereo power cables its a basic stereo as hes selling the car he has the red, yellow together going to the positive. black going to the neg and speaker wires all connected

Is it an aftermarket stereo which is connected directly to the ISO? Maybe get one of the adapter harnesses and try one of them in between?

its not the stereo when it works with the engine off carls. dannyb its a bog stardard stereo for the nova mk2.
