once
By hands, if you mean the hands on the clockface, then the minute hand passes the hour hand 10 times afaik between 00:00 and 12:00, unless by big hand you mean second hand... in which case a lot more lol

LOL, nice edit there, you had written 11 and as i clicked 'Quote' your answer had changed to 10 lol
It is 10, lots of people forget the big hand goes around once first without crossing the small hand.

oh well i was close now for the 4 walls one is it white
I sat here mentally counting it on my clock. Got 11 first time round then realised I'd counted it wrong, as theoretically the minute hand doesn't pass the hour hand as it comes to 12:00

Its the first rotation that throws you out. From 12 till 1 o clock, the minute hand doesnt pass the hour hand, but if you just count '1' you end up counting 11 rotations, which there are, but only 10 passes lol
Its a real goodun, you have t think pretty hard about it but its simple.
Nah, I figured the 0-1 not having a pass straight away. It was the approach to 12 that got me. My brain picks out hard stuff but misses the bleedin' obvious stuff instead lol

If a rooster laid 11 eggs and the farmer took 5 of them and another rooster laid 14 eggs and 5 of them were rotten, how many eggs were left?
Roosters don't lay eggs... Being male and all that. You mean Hens/chickens...

Clap Clap. 0 because roosters don't lay eggs.
Well its a hypothetical question, so doesn't really abide by the laws of physics and reality. So its possible. And as you specified that the rooster DID lay some eggs, one would take your word for it in the context of the puzzle. So hypothetically the answer is 15, but in real terms the answer is you're a plum lol

I don't see the word "did" in that anywhere.
I see "if a"
"If a" implies the hypothetical. You're saying in the hypothetical context of the question, the events did, or will, occur. You said "if a rooster laid some eggs", i.e. hypothetically, the rooster did, or will, lay some eggs.
Nits officially picked lol

Rungs of a Ladder
The rungs of a 10 foot ladder attached to a ship are 1 foot apart. If the water is rising at the rate of one foot an hour, how long will it take until the water covers over the ladder?...
hendrix
11-10-07, 01:22 PM
11 hours
Never; the ladder is attached to the ship, which we assume is floating on the water. If the water level raises, the ship goes up with it, so the water never gets to climb up the ladder :D
