Get any female to reverse the car into a garage - voila, mirrors off!! haha
Nah they should just pop off (with the aid of a flatblade screwdriver or similar)
do the whole mirrors just come off or can you just take the fronts off?

Youd probably better to remove the whole mirror and then remove the cap.
Its only 2 or 3 screws that hold the mirror on.

Not done one for a while but I find the best way to get the cap off is to bash the cap side of the mirror towards the back of the car with your hand, this should pop the whole mirror out of the ball joints then you can grab the cap and pull it off the housing.

Its clipped to the mirror body. Try & prise the inner most corner away from the mirror body & you should see it all flexing & help you yank it off. They always feel like they will break tbh.

Best of painting the whole mirror in my opinion, youll proberley just end up damaging the mirror if you try and take the cover off, plus it'll look better if you paint all of the mirror imo.
1st pop the mirror out of its ball joint (give it a whack with the palm of your hand as though someone had just clipped you)
Then pull it outwards carefully (you will see a big ball socket and behind this 2 smaller ones - these can be popped out).
the you need to carefully remove the casing - theres a retaining clip inside - theres no clear way to explain how to do this but a flat headed screwdriver carefully inserted inside and then a gentle prising motion usually pops it off - go carefully as you dont want to break the mechanism.
For easier access remove the whole mittor (you need to remove the little plastic lever 1st thougha nd these usually get damaged in the process...)
