im gonna regret starting tihis thread but if it goes well it could be one hell of a project,

so i thought i'd use it as a project for the mrs and told her that it was hers
and she could have it the way she wants it before i had a good look round it

the hole you see on the inner arch was poked through with a light prod
the rest would just crumble but i've got to leave it there for now so i can use it as a template,
she has now told me i can't get rid of it so one total strip down and rebuild ahead she also wants "body frockles and a pshhh" under the bonnet lol
lets see how a nova designed by my mrs turns out!:wall: :cry:

might not look much but it ages to get the inner wing look like this grinded all the rot out rust proofed and gave it a filler primer coat, then had enough as i also put mk 2 front and rear on the 5 door today,

If its a welding project or your uber handy with a weld and want to create something differant then fair play, but other wise your mental lol

Its not beyond saving, some people are wimps and scrap novas that have just a tiny bit of rust on them. There are going to be more and more people restoring cars in this sort of condition as time goes by.
I would have welded up that inner arch seam instead of just grinding it and painting it personally.
Your going to need a welder and plenty of gas and lots of metal to sort that car out though - dont bother unless you have/or are going to get those things.

i already have all these things and the paint is just temp im gonna seam all the inner wings and might even go for smoothed bay im even gonna go buy a more capable welder today,

yeah all by hand degreaser,wire wool,toothbrush (for degreaser not toothpaste) did the rocker with a wire piece that goes on the grinder then rubed it down with wire wool

Make 1000000% sure the block is thoroughly clean(sump area and oil filter etc)

block was all clean gonna get sump off i think altho i might just clean it, it is in good cond paint wise under all the gunk,
took about an hour to polish upto the pic but no way its gonna come up as well as i wanted it still another coat of paint to come on the block

have thought about it but my time costs me nothing and its not a bad job so far, think im gonna go chrome on the xe tho gonna take it out the white 1 and put it in the silky 1 i think unless another red top pops up at the right price;)

Dude, youll need to coat them with some form of lacquer finish, after a few months they'll oxidise and the nicely polished finish will fade out :thumb:

i know and that 1 took longer to do thought i'd try something defferent on the pas side and worked quite well might rip it off and do it again:roll:
but then i did do it like that on the driver side for a reson i left it hollow right through so i could run the loom through it and hide most of it
