Ive just replaced the standard master cylinder and servo for an astra servo and 22mm master cylinder, and the results are awsome. Really make good use of the 288's on the front. On first test i said hello to the windscreen a couple of times.

This weekend i pick up my new suspension set up, avo coilovers from kevster. Cheers to Lee and Kev for sorting me out with this.. pics to follow.

Thanks to Shaun for sending me my other back panel for the saloon.

A pair of front bumpers will be arriving soon, one poverty spec mk2 and a gsi one. Just need pair of wings and 2 mk2 saloon rear bumpers, more on this later.

As for the rest of it, lets see what comes about, probably a slight colour change, another set of wheels, which im still meant to pick up, sorry Dave:thumb:

Im confused, is there a 2nd saloon? hence the two sets of bumpers? and by new wings I take it you mean your going mk2 with the saloon?

Do the servos fit ok? I was chatting to a mate about fitting a 2.0 cav/ astra servo, but might not have been a straight swap.

Saloony
04-10-07, 10:37 PM
No just the one saloon. Ill have a track use and show use. Simply because i was being girlie about my paint work so ill have a second set for track. And yeah mk2 wings, bring it up to date. It went on, but the rod was slightly modded, ie shortened a bit to fit.

It wont be to far from the original, well this colour.

Lee
05-10-07, 09:38 PM
It needs rubber up the door, stone chips on the bonnet, a blue tinge on the tyres, annhialated brake pads and a big brown stain on the drivers seat.

IMO thats all its missing lol

Good good. The brake gubbins was easliy done, the only think you really have to modify was the push rod through the servo, you need to weld on the nova one, think it has to be short or longer cant remember as it was already done for me, i just fitted it all up, the difference is huge, makes excellent use of the V6 brakes, excellent feel and so sharp, the pedal isnt sensitive just nice.

The suspension has help loads, if anyone saw it in the light of day the ride at the front was so high it looked like it was taking off standing still.

Cheers lads.

Brake upgrade sounds good, what did you have before? GTE servo?

Personally I think the saloon would look good with mk2 rear bumper and GTE front, but then again, its your car so you probably don't care what I think! lol

BIGS
12-10-07, 01:31 PM
NO you cant change the front to a mark 2. The mark 1 is rare enough on the hatchback never alone the saloon. Your car is what has inspired me to get a mark 1 saloon just waiting for the owner to get back to me:D . Oh the car is looking great as ever :thumb:

You jesting aint you, standard 993cc m/c and servolol As for putting the mk2 rear with mk1 front just dont sit well with me, the bumpers dont match so wont be doing that.

BIGS- Thats nice to know:thumb: , but i will be going mk2 as its been like this for 2 show seasons now and as Lee will say that i am a tart so i want to keep interest in the car instead of being brushed aside due to the fact its always looked the same, plus ill still keep all the bits so it'll be easy to switch between the two.

Cool mods, wish I could find a 22mm M/C. One I bought is a 20mm Astra one.

Good work on going mk2, I think the mk1 looks good but is a bit stale on your car, & I'd keep hold of the old bits you have. Put them on again in a few years time.

Cheers everyone, tax runs out at the end of this month so the work will begin. probably back come PVS maybe before. ****ing new wings are ?54 + the dreaded each, christ. Still need two rear saloon bumpers. Gutted that im removing it from the winter months, the car seems to be on song at the moment, something that Jason (Stareso) could comment on.

Saloony
18-10-07, 09:13 PM
Right, today i added some weight to it by waxoiling the inner arches and underneath. Was going to roll the arches today too but someone has half inched my heat gun, gits, so you would of had some pics. In one of the rear arch pics you can see why its getting the paint done again, im debating whether to get the rear quaters replaced (they have once before), reason i say this is because thats were small bits of rust are, the rest of the car is perfect. Anyways heres some pics...

Saloony
06-05-08, 11:57 PM
Both rear arches had slight bubbling on them, lower parts near the sills had filler in, n/s had slight rust and o/s was wavey due to bad repair before when some cnut kicked the side in. All easily repairable, but the car is not going anywhere so im prolonging its life as its a keeper. Plus im fussy.

silver wheels will probably look better with the new paint job, but it looked top of its game in the burnt orange with black wheels :)

And the wheels are in the earlier pages.

20-05-08, 08:37 PM
Well the car is semi fitted up, just waiting for my new front screen and to fit in the rest of the interior. Been playing with the coilovers today trying to even the car out, its like mm's different in places but **** it i was bored, have my new wheels on now to and they really make the car. Pics will be coming soon, once ive waxed it of course, then before the show it will have a final buff.. nice.

Saloony
20-05-08, 08:43 PM
This is very suprising, as following recent years, car colours have gone away from paint like this and into more metalics and block/solid darker colours, really thought i was going to divide major opinions with my choice... Sweet.

Trail fit of bumper on bonnet pins, before i mounted up the oil cooler, spent a while weighing up the options then just said sod it...

http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b204/Keiranova/006-9.jpg

Now everything fitted up, still need to mess around with that bumper and clean it all up. wanted to go for a trail run but after fitting the top mounts ive knocked everything out and couldnt be bothered to spend a mass mount of time sorting it, so tracking is out and its dirty as fook... oh well

Would some form of mesh/grille be advisable over the oil cooler so as not to leave it open to stones/badgers/birds/school children which could pierce it and cause sudden oil loss?

Always felt the saloon felt tighter than the hatch. I may later remove the spare wheel well and have an exhaust made up, centre exit i think.

Got to buy a new alternator as the regulator is fudged. It pulses, so constantly has flickering lights.
