Yes, but with a slight drop in power.

why's that?

It will lower compression slightly iirc.

ive got a 1.3 head which has has head work done and a cam put in along with a weber carb, so can i bore out a 1.2 block to suit or do i need to source a 1.3 block?

Fit a 1.4 block, with the 1.3 head.

measure the head thickness (if its had work done) it may have been skimmed and be OK. 1300 engines are getting hard to track down these days.

what benifit is there having a 1.3 head on a 1.4 block over the 1.4 head in terms of power/torque. will the 1.2 block bore out to 1.3 because i have 2 1.2 engines, 1 carbed one and one injection one.

The 1.2 block has a 2mm larger bore than a 1.3....

The 1.3 head flows much better than a 1.4sr one.

If you can get hold of a C14SE, use that in its complete form.

you could fit a 1300 crank & rods to a 1.2. this gives a hi-comp 1.4. I did one about 17 years ago. It went very well.
The difference between a 1. 2 & a 1.3 head is slight, just make sure you have the right head gasket for the block.
