View Full Version : My 82 registered Corsa
Hi
I bought another Corsa in France this week.
It's an '83 model with 1.0OHV engine, but was first registered in 1982!!
The very interesting thing about it is that the VIN is ending by 4003014, means the car was built on 3rd or 4th day of production!!!! :D:D
It even has the very rare rear opening windows

The state is quite fair, it has rust on the battery tray and, as it has been repaired once very badly due to a crash, rear panel and rear arches.
But no rust on front panel , doors, front wheelhouses, floor aso.
The paint is very bad, feels like sanding paper lollol I think the car has not been cleaned for the last 10 years and it stood always in the sun.
I'll put it in storage for the moment, but will restore it to Original
Cheers
Steve

very nice find :) lucky lucky!!!
But how do you know from the vin the production date?
It's a guess.
The VIN is 3014, there were 1500 pre-production cars, regular production start was on August 30th. There were 270.000 Corsas/Novas produced in the 1st year, makes about 700-900 per day.

Ahh I see, I didn't understand what the vin numbers meant that is all. Could possibly be one of the oldest nova's still in existance theoretically
It looks like its lasted quite well for its age.
Nice.

Interesting number plate on it - GM 0982
General Motors and almost 1982
Are you going to keep it as a 1.0?

That looks to be in great shape for its age. If it were in the UK it would have either rotted to dust by now or have been half destroyed by some young idiot with no clue as to how to look after a car.
Interior nearly makes me sick though!
that is very very kool indeed

Fook me that should be in a museum lol !!!
love the Reg
For the reg: GM 0982
I wanted to have GM1982 as my Corsas have all a reg with GM19xx ,but it was already taken :mad:. but this one is also cool, as it's like 9/82 for September 82
If the car has not been in Bretagne in France all the time, it would certainly not have survived!! Think it has never seen salt nor icy roads :thumb::thumb:
It will stay all original, so the 1.0 will also stay in

Do LHD novas have the wonky driving position?
Do LHD novas have the wonky driving position?
Yes, they have
Is it just me or do foreign plates make a massive difference to the look of a car?
Good find steve, i love the interior ( but then i'm sad like that!)

Nice find Steve, must be lovely having one of the first ever Nova/Corsa :D
The condition looks brilliant for it age and like you say would probably be better if it wasn't for the dodgy repair! The interior is very, errr, Retro?! Cool all the same though, I fancy having some of those opening rear windows incase I ever buy another Nova to keep my van company!
Good find

Looks excellent Steve! Well done!
Good find steve, got the same interior as mine, although havn't seen another nova with that choke! Nor the aerial mounted on the scuttle panel, strange!
Did you ever find use for my pierburg carb?

The arial is strange, in fact.
For the choke, all Corsas had the choke like this, except the Novas, that had it beside the steering column
The carb is not fitted yet, as I have the Irmscher injection in the SR and I'm not sure yet if I'll rebuild it 100% original or with the injection

The boot floor is different from the ones I know. I know the ones with the 3 reinforcements crosswise, but never seen one with only 1 reinforcement lengthwise.
Is this typical for the 83? or only the very early ones??
I'll check on my 83' as I cant remember off the top of my head, also has yours got the 'different' style rear seat latch? The handbrake cable on mine is very strange as well..
The handbrake cable on mine is very strange as well..as in got a slider on the beam??
Yep thats the one, i'll try and find a pic to compare it with a later one.
ive got a pic somewhere of that set up aswell

Yes, that hanbrake setup was fitted upto about 1986.
Yes, I know, but my 82 has not the slider one, it has the later one. Will have to change it lol
Just been and had a look, and my 83 and 87 both have the 4 reinforcement bits in the bit, so yours is a total one-off!
That's GREAT!! Makes it even more special :D
