Anyway, how easy is it to, and how do you go about getting speakers into you rear quarters, i have some quad conversions pods kicking about to use upfront just what to do with the rear, any other ideas greatly appreciated.

have you still got the dash speakers ??
for speakers in the rear im gonna be making the trim from a flat piece of MDF and mounting the speakers htere (like in the max power haynes manual), have yuou got a carpet still to hide the wires otherwise wires would need p clipping down the side to each speaker

or do you even need speakers in the rear, if yo uget some decent quality front speakers you might find there enough

no carpet lol will see if i can find some decent fronts,

i saw a nova once that was stripped it had a flat peice of MDF behind the front seats stitting flush in passenger footwell with some 6/9s mounted in it, might see if i can give that a bash, cheers bud

I too have been thinking about ways to do this although it does sort of contradict stripping the car in first place!

Let me know how you get on, (i haven't even got anywhere to place the head unit!!)

Heres my solution which i have done. Either use the standard speakers up in the dash or i screwed some up behind the glovebox for now and zip tied a headunit in the glovebox, where it'll stay.

6x9's will be too big for that, use regular 5" or 6" co ax's. Personally I'd put some components in the doors or kickwells & run an 8 or 10" sub in the boot, ideally spare wheel well to keep it low & out of sight. 1 amp, minimal cabling. :thumb:

get a passenger to hold th eheadunit or place on passenger seat and have some house speakers laid in the back for sound lol

Just make do with some human beatboxing lol

I would have thought some audio would fit in the footwells behind the seats? Ought to be able to fit a small sub in there.

I tried a walkman for a while, but its surprisingh how much you listen for external noises & check the engine isnt going bang. Whoops 65mph in 2nd, doh!

I'm using two 10cm speakers in the dashboard in my stripped Nova - it's fine for a bit of rush-hour sound to stop boredom but you can't hear anything at 50+ because of road noise (no sound deadening). However I've got some 13cm speakers for the doors if I decide to fit doorcards which would fill it in a bit more.

Rather worriyingly since I no longer hair up and down the M5 in a mobile Disco (11PM to 3AM mostly) I've started to notice all sorts of erratic noises.

Stick some decent components up front and that should suffice, with minimal fuss.

If your gonna weigh it back down with speakers, mounts and a H/U then just bolt it all back in.
If you want to listen to music in a car it shouldnt be stripped END OF.

Trim and Sound deadening is for homos.

Throttle bodies or twin carbs should sort out the sound issues :)
