my car got bumped the other day of the neighbour, and took all the paint of it, he says he will pay for it, but now thnking about it i dont want it fixing, ive had enough with it and it fooked really anyway, so the bumper is colourt coded (corsa gsi) so my thoughts are that when it comes out the paint shop the bumper will stick out like a sore thumb, so it will all need blending in, which i wouldnt think is an economical repair! am i right in thinking they will write it off

If you're letting your neighbour pay for the repairs and not going through the insurance, who's going to write it off?

because i can get it done for ?350 but if it went through insurance it would cost like ?700- ?800

So you're saying he's offered to pay for it, but he'll do it via insurance?

I doubt they'd write it off for some paint tbh. Got pics of the damage?

Show us a picture, if its just a bit of paint off the bumper thats not going to cost ?700. Your description is a bit vague "and took all the paint of it" so he hit the car and the entire paintwork instantly fell off leaving your car bare metal?

Don't be soft - i've seen cars roll over & be repaired.

May not do. My 1.2 J reg Nova had ?750 worth of repairs paid for on insurance about 3 years ago, which included a whole new rear panel.

A good painter could make it a close match, failing that just g3 the whole car.

You never said it was just the bumper did you, thats the point. All you said is your car was hit and all the paint came off. You asked if it would be a write off, yet your description of the car was too crap to be able to tell you.

If the bumper hasnt even cracked it can't be that bad, certainly not worth writing a car off on its own. And if your that worried about colour match, don't bother spraying the exsisting bumper, just get another one of a same colour car that'll have years of fade on it too.

If your car is a complete wreck anyway and is not worth spending money on - I don't know why you'd even be bothered about a bit of a scuff on the bumper.
