was told that a 1.6 calalier engine can go straight in (with box) is this true and if not is there a larger engine i can put in (any size) just that 1.0 is OHV and not OHC so i cant use my 1.3 top :(

i heard the calavier 1.6 engine was slower then the nova 1.6 GTE/GSi engine. just something i heard like (i mean slower when in a nova - not when in a cav!)

did the cav have sri engine?
but anyway even so still better than my 1.0
You need to make sure what block size engine you're putting in. Basicly this just refers to the form factor of the engine block itself. All nova engines and some of the smaller Astra engines of the same era are small block (along with the Corsa engines) this means that any Nova/Corsa/Astra (1-1.6l)engine will go right in (of course, as you have a 1.0 to start with, you will need to add a fuel return pipe and get a new fuel tank)
This info might not be entirely accurate, but for a taste of what your going to face doing this goto www.valvers.com and look at the 1.6 engine guide (forget about the 16v bit, it basicly the same sort of thing)
Not much help here :/

easiest way really would be to fit the whole lot from a 1.6 nova gte, you have everything you need then.
