i am after a bit of info/advice on what i should do with my new paint job?

i did it myself and it came out surprisigly well apart from a wing that needs re-done again due to runs. anyway..i sprayed it in an old barn type garage and its gathered a bit of dust on it when drying. i am just wondering if there is anything i can really gently rub it down/polish it with to get it as smooth and as shiny as possible. what can i try?

cheers,
Greg

how bad is the dust? it is loads of bits or just the odd 1 or 2?

if its loads id do it again as there no use having a car thats mint except the paints crap

or you could say its black with dust-flake

its not too bad.. you can just notice it if the sun is beating down on it, thats when it shows up most.

what paint did you use? If 2pak acrylic then you'll need to rub it down within 36 hours otherwise (apparantly) its a biatch to do.

Basically - to remove "nibs" flat it back with 1500 wet n dry (wet) being very careful on the edges - you just want to remove the nib. Then use a polishing mop (and not a grinder) with some G3 (or G4 can never remember) cutting paste. Again be careful with polishing mop so as not to burn paint.

As with any cutting paste it does what its name suggests and "cuts" a micro fine layer of paint off the surface so go easy. The more layers of paint sprayed on the safer it will be. If doing by hand be prepared for some HARD elbow greese.

The other option (which is what I did when I self resprayed my nova) is get shell buffed up by a body shop. I used local Vauxhall Garage who charged ?150 for a days work. Came out wonderfully!
