I assume your'e talking about exhaust noise?
My filter that I fitted on a X20XEV can be heard sucking like mad on tick over, can't comment on any difference to exhaust note as i've never used anything else.

the small block xe's make a loud induction noise due to the 6 miles of pipe work the air has to go through

must be 8 miles on big block eco's then lol
must be 8 miles on big block eco's then lol
this is the route small block xe's have to take, from right, all round back of engine, and over the top into engine

pfffffft small blocks suck ****...............................when they are in stanard form. Big blocks dont have crap inlets, thats why they own all.

EXACTLY
They had to fit some gay inlet, because of how amazing small block 16v's are :p
your only defending them because you have one, would be other way, if you hand a big block :p

So how does all this length improve efficiency / complete burning of fuel, as that is what the Ecotec's were about.
it was done to reduce power, but keep torque iirc
